Can't believe I managed to drive out of Essex off road with the clutch that bad, emailed the pics to mail order 4x4 and also asked if they really want me to return it, only 14 months old well within the Borg and beck warranty awaiting their reply, quite chuffed with myself as I didn't even have to drop the gear box or tranny, just undid everything and put a jack on the tranny and eased it out in one and sat the gearbox on the crossmember leaving just enough room to get the clutch out will update once I get a reply

hello all i agree with you jon i think there over priced for basicly the only outlay the guide has is diesel i still think wales is the mecca for greenlaning

bloody hell you done well to get as far as you did !!!

Done a bit, I have done all the braintree and Stansted routes, I have also been to Bures a lot over the years in my 110 and when I finished the 90. Since then I haven't done a lot for a year :-( but I have the bug again and I'm interested in meeting up with new groups and getting muddy. I have quite a capable truck and it needs to be used for what It was built for! Lol!

Ouch was the flywheel OK, did you have wading bungs in all the time ? almost looks like something has got inbetween them but the clutch looks clean.

Just seen a pool of diff oil on my drive, must have happened laning the other night, looks like the seals gone.
Something else to do. Gonna have to take it easy at EOR tomorrow . 8.30 at McD.

Get the prop off and a new seal I will show you how to do it. ;)

Hi James flywheel looks ok, I use the wading plugs when we go out laning or off roading other than that she don't get driven much, it does look clean other than all the black dust and broken fibres, checked for oil leaks and there's none, it happened getting out of a ditch, just burnt out, smoke was pouring out between the seal of the flywheel housing and box, I doubt it's even donev 3.5k, maybe it's my driving:D

How was your weekend? Wanted to go but had to go to a house warming party wit the other half

Is anyone going to the landrover show at Peterborough this Sunday?

I'm going to take all my spares to the auto jumble so will be there all day.

Hi James hope you had a good weekend, considering getting a recon diff as this had a new seal not so long back and as you know its a bit loose. when i finished work saturday sorted out the damper bracket i made up a proper bracket and welded on at an angle and welded some threaded bar that sits parallel to the bar to stop it twisting.

Weekend was great thanks, just wish I had mine with me  I will give you all a longer warning for next year its a great site 6-800 acres apparently.

Make sure you adjust the clutch properly, it needs to have some free play it can get hot and do as you have described.

Well I had to share my news

Friend who's a mechanic has told me I just need to pay for the parts and he will sort it well anyway after couple hundred quid turns out due to my dad passing he wanted to do little extra and has fully rebuilt my engine along with re doing clutch bearings and checking everything possible as well as a rewire and new blade type fuse board etc. saved me a few quid and what a gent!! Chuffed to bits and can't wait to get it back!!!

Me and a mate are gonna do some laning on Sunday if anyone is up for tagging along, gonna aim for the lanes between Brentwood and Chelmsford, will aim for a few fords as well, the good Easter one was 2ft last weekends doubtful there will be more rain but it's a good wheel/chassis wash...

Late update, but glad everyone enjoyed essex off road was a great day out!!

Think Chris got a load of pics, still fixing bits on the landy. managed to destroy a trailing arm chassis bush so has 2 inches of wheel movement for half the day, wore my front pads to nothing, destroyed a diff cross pin and wreck the diff and in the process snap the splines clean off my front passenger half shaft somehow and put a hole in my front diff pan.

And passenger side top swivel pin is wrecked.

apart from that its all good, and im slowly getting my way through the repairs lol.
