Thats a though lol

Im not really sure what to do, im kinda in that go buy it mood, I think im gonna have a look at the pick up, if its solid then I might make an offer otherwise I think I shall wait, its not like the disco is dead so no real rush... just want me new toy!!

The altrnative is a jeep mind ;)

Well this weekend im gonna be viewing a few different 90's. I have got 3 lined up to look at, 1 in colchester and 2 in norwich. I gotta decide what I want though, they are all 200TDi's, 1 is a pickup which has been kitted up (its the red one on here in the for sale section), the other one is an estate but its totally standard and the last one is a lovely black estate that looks nice but is standard except some tyres and sliders but its gonna be around £800 more than the fully kitted red one. I can swap my bits across but then I got to break it and possibly wont get as much for it all... decissions decissions....

Don't forget it's easy to change from a truck cab to a van, everthing just bolts on.
Which one is the best.

Is it a simple job? I thought it was a complete body change? heres some pics of what im looking at to give you an idea.

This is the better spec'd one, it hasn't got these wheels on anymore but thats no issue. Its running 300TDi engine and boxes, has the extras like nato hitch e.t.c. and he has it as a buy it now at £2995

This is the other one in norwich, its a 200TDi and is bog standard, he hasn't given a buy it now but i expect above £3K

And this is the one I really like, its local and he wants £3500 for it, it has sliders and some nice tyres but other than that it is totally standard. I am very tempted but im thinking I may be able to get the red one for nearer £2500 and I cant see him dropping much on this one.

So like I say, the pick up is ready to go and cheaper, the black one looks the part though but will need guards e.t.c. so thats another £300 on top really... hmmm....

It's up to you mate. I know that if you get the truck cab you'll need more room. If you get he van you'll want a cage.
"If it was me I'd go for the best condition one". I'd need the van & fit a cage but I have kids & dogs.

might be wrong fella but looking at the one at the bottom which is black i would also say its had at least a 2inch lift and new springs

The black one is just up the road from me. I drive past it most days.
He tried selling it about 6 months ago without success.
I had a quick look before and from what I remember it looked good.
Wave some money at him, most people drop when faced with losing a deal. especially as this is his second attempt at a sale.
Good luck - I'm extremely jealous!

Thats what I keep thinking, I like the truck cab as its caged, guards, lift e.t.c. but its a truck cab, im 6'3" so its gonna be tight. The vans would suit me more I think.

Yeah I think that, its definitly higher than a standard one and its got sliders which he hasn't mentioned so he may not know that much.

Thats good to know, Im trying to get a viewing of it and I will wave a large wad of notes under his nose if its solid. The black one is the one I prefer but its the most expensive.

What about the one Drizz posted on this thread a few days ago?

Seemed highly specced and a good price.

This one?

http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f59/1994-300tdi-truck-cab-191761.html

Its a truck cab and its £4K, well above what I want to spend, the extra gear is nice but thats what I want to do in a way, this is why im getting a 90 as I dont want to spend any more money on the disco, im never going to see it back. A 90 will still be worth something and they look cool. Im gonna miss those leather armchairs my disco has tho

Oh yeah, if anyone wants a disco heres mine now up for sale:

Go for a van / csw you will at some point want the extra space and security of your gear. being tall you could put a bulk head removal bar in to give more leg room i have just put in mud rails and its fine.
Get a bog standard one and do exactly what you want to it, or buy a kitted up one and let someone else lose all the money on the toys.
Tough call, mine was a standard van when i bought it if that helps.

Well I have won the auction for the 200TDi, heres the specs and some pics, hopefully picking up today:

200tdi, 12 months MOT, passed with no issues, new front pads, uprated spring shocks, alloy wheels, new bench seats in rear, new rubber boot liner with Landrover logo cost over £100,serviced in december 2012 with new clutch assembly and starter motor. The old engine has been replaced by Excaliber 4x4 with a Discovery 200tdi engine which gives much better performance and economy. Excellenet runner Rear window guards, BFGOODRICH tyres with loads of tread. The car has not been used for towing or commuting as it is a weekend car for shooting and fishing. There is a small dent on the drivers side wing from the previous owner. The chassis and body work is in good order and has had no advisories when it passed its MOT. The bulk head is also in good order. Reluctant sale as over £1000 spent getting it tip top for the next shooting season.

Paid £3100 for it, he didnt mention the sliders or the fact its lifted (he did say uprated mind) so im not sure if he realizes it, he also listed it as a defender 200tdi, he didnt add 90 so anyone searching for 90's missed it (as I did for a few days)

Hopefully its solid or im walking away, if all is good I will order my steering guard and snorkel this week, maybe some laning soon...

Looks very nice!
I drove past it again today. there is a green lane (monks lane) just round the corner from it.
I tried to drive it a few years back but it was very overgrown.
Parked up today and for went for a run  and included the lane as part of our route. it's even worse now. Desperately needs cutting back. I think the lady in the cottage (north end) is hoping to get it TRO'd.
She's well known on some of the biker forums.

Looks like a very nice truck. I hope it's all good.
I like these advance services though, I might do mine in December 2012 as well.

Yeah i noticed that, i may go see him in december and see if he can do my clutch and service for me!

Well i have just picked it up, im pretty happy, few things to do. The locks are naff so lock set needed. I got no roof lining so may look into that. There is a bit of axle slap so will check through bushes but it drives well. Turns out there was a steering guard in he back so thats cushty, also it has full suspension, drop mounts e.t.c. And 32" tyres which is cool. Gonna get it in at work to give it a good look over monday but pretty happy. The front end is all face lifted as well which is cool. Already missing the disco comfort but oh well, dedicated to the cause!
