Sounds like when my transfer box went last year :(

Took the plug out and this was all on it

Several gears had chucks missing out of them :(

Johny don't go throwing £1000s at ashcrofts, as matt said get a tranny of him a disco one, gearbox should be fine always a bit of swarf on the plug and get a Borg and beck clutch from here Mail Order 4x4 Clutch Kits
5th item down STC8358B Borg & Beck Defender Diesel Clutch Kit (2.5L N/A diesel, 2.5L TD, 200 tdi, 300 tdi.) 2 YEAR, UNLIMITED MILAGE WARRANTY.

Thanks mate, i am loathe to look at the Ashcroft stuff anyway, so expensive.

does anyone have any suggestions as to how it got into my clutch? my current theory, is this?

Disco 300tdi engine should be mounted to an R380 Tranny, but mine is mated to a LT77. The stud pattern is different between the two, my only guess is that some water was drawn in through here as there are a couple of empty stud holes where they don't quite meet up. Thoughts?

I have also heard of people swapping the 300 tdi flywheel housing to a 200 tdi/2.5na/2.25 petrol as they mate to the Lt77. Does anyone know if this works?

Matt, definitely interested in the transfer box, do you know if its a cross drilled one? Do you also know, if it will work with my current Lt77. The Tranny was orginially on a 2.25 petrol (i assume) and i know that some of the disco lt230 transfer boxes have differing ratios?

Give me a bell tomorrow and I'll help you conjure something up ;)

Well I have just brought another disco.

Same colour as my old one but newer and the chassis looks mint.

Will need a new boot floor and 2 sills but fron and rear inner wings look good. Compared to my other one the rust is no issue.

Steering box is soaked but I have a good box, the transfer box is wet at the seal end but not a hard job to change the seal, the transfer box lever is seized on the diff lock side to side but I have a spare freed up mechanism in the garage. Electric windows don't work but I have spares of everything.

I will be transferring all my wheels, snorkle, breathers and suspension over to my new one so pretty soon i will have a clone.

This one is loverly to drive with a very smooth engine and box compared to the other one. Still has the egr and cat on it and will go even better with those junked and the pump tweaked.

Also I have a new addition to my garage thanks to Mikey.

when I did my conversion I put the flywheel housing from the 25n/a on the 200tdi as I couldn't be assed drilling and tapping the extra holes sure the petrol housing fits as well but don't quote me on that one post a q in the fender section, as for tranny disco one has a different ratio, gives better motorway speed but low range is the same as fender, good mod have one on mine

Brian, what are you doing with the wheels your taking off. I've always like the look of a set of them.;)

They will be up for sale. Wheels look mint if I remember (was the least important thing on my. Checklist.)

I usually eBay them but will post on here to give first refusal to a fellow landyzoner.

Seems violets lane has done something to my ABS, it's started working
First time in about 6 months.

Still its never all good, i got a shower when I pulled forward. Seems the sunroof is a genuine land rover one. Think I'll just tape it up for now.

Brian,
Nice looking disco, glad you got one so soon.

Thanks Nick.

Have you tried some captain tolleys creaping crack cure on the roofs? Or I have johns old sunroof frames here with solid drain pipes in case yours are broken.
Was keeping them in the loft as spares.

Went out yesterday, Started at Ongar and made our way over towards Stebbing. For anyone that doesnt know the lane at Dunmow that has the Ford and goes under the A120 is now closed to all vehicles :( Had a good day though

If its leaking around the seals try giving it a clean and using a bit of KY jelly, its ideal for sealing rubber seals as its water based and wont perish the rubber...

LOL.
She thinks I spend to much time with the landy already.
Just picturing her shaking her head as I walk out the door with the KY in one hand and some rubber seals in the other.
"just fixing the Landy love. back later"

I ve found vasiline to work better, and keeps it from going hard longer..........seems to sty in place as its not water based and dont get washed away....
