Took a drive past the dunmow lane and took a look about to see what work has been done.
The step after the ford is now a slope, but still very soft under foot. If its not firmed up the first tyre to spin in it will tear it up and they'll close it again (presuming it gets re-opened).

The notice giving full details is on the foot bridge which is the public footpath and not very visible from the byway. There are 6 laminated sheets stating byway closed, but they are already fading and have only been in place for 4 weeks.

The short section of the lane I walked has had road plannings put down. looks horrible but should last. Just hope it's not closed for 18 months.....

What an awesome day today down on the plains, guys great to meet some new faces, Graham well done for leading, a1job you and Geoff did on planning the routes, the kids had a great time absolutely loved it, got home safe with no probs, Geoff hope you manage to sort out the alternator and have another great day tomorrow I'm off to bed totally knackered:)

First major delivery job undertaken in the new Disco yesterday, picking up a Beemer a bringing it 200 miles back to Colchester for a mate.
New cheap 2nd hand wheels and tyres I bought defently need the balancing sorted pronto, but apart from that the truck performed faultlessly. Even returned reasonable MPG and the new head gasket I fitted appears to not be leaking which is a touch.

Yer I was a little aprehensive at the trip as the heaters had been playing up but that turned out to be air in the matrix. Cam belt next then snorkel, new boot floor and sills, then I'll probably get bored and sell it lol.
BM was lovely, 54 plate 320D M sport with full leather and 1 owner. Small knock in the rear quarter and needing a pair of bumpers. Not bad for £1800.

Well Tiny's defently getting broken next month and for the money I'd spend bobtailing this one and adding all the other kit I can get my track car built.
So gonna turn the 3 door into a daily and green laner whilst I save the cash for a replacement Disco 2 (hopefully V8) in the summer.

I had a great weekend, was great getting to see whos who on here, got some good lanes, some fun mud and just had a great time overall. Was a pity about the overheating issues but that will be sorted for next time, new rad needed me thinks. Am on the case of sorting a few pictures and videos out, hopefully in the next few days I will get them all online, for now tho its time to relax and chill out, been an interesting drive home, couldn't drive above 55mph as the disco started overheating again... got home eventually though...

Cheers all for a top weekend. Turns out I had alternator problems as well.
Got home ok but battery not charging. Pulled the bushes off the back & put back together, now all sorted. Just got to charge the battery, & it's been cleaned as well.
Time to sit down I think.
