Hey, hey!! Today has been an interesting day :D I may have managed to secure myself some dry working space :D :D :D

On another note.... Rear heavy duty bumper......... The tools for a successful days work; note the hammer :)

Spent a little while this morning sorting the main part of the bumper. Folded it from 5mm steel on the brake press. The plan being, it'll bolt to the rear of the chassis and have some welded triangle fillets along the inside and in the end caps to form a strong thing that shouldn't bend.

Will also be adding circular Defender jacking points and cut outs for some lights.

Will pop a few more pics up as I crack on with it. This is going to be a real mans bumper, not an overpriced "HD" from FirstFour :D

Spike picked up a little water in the airbox so probably went a little faster than me, definately Snorkel time before my next trip.

:D

Yeah, a little too fast - no snorkel on this one! Will need to look round for one (seems too much hassle to take it off my old one, which has a different air filter).

Dam it dove the landy yesterday and temp hit just over 95 deg, head gasket blowing out the front under the thermo housing and oil coming out under the egg sauce manifold ordered new gasket and bolts today and going to try and get the head off today and then take it to be skimmed tomorrow hoping to have it all back together for the weekend so I can make Peterborough :mad:
Im not in the best of moods damn it.

Engine had been slowly running hotter and hotter, replaced the rad but still no change thermo and pump all fine, then on tuesday the temp hit 95 deg so i pulled over, on tick over started to cool but no normal sighns of head gasket failure other than an oily soot under the thermo housing area and an oil leak from the head gasket under the egg sauce manifold, once head off alot of rusting on the block at the rear near piston no 4, got the head back today and it seams it was a bit warped a low spot in the middle and at the rear but was able to flatten:) all I can figure is that the engine had not long had a rebore as there is still fresh honing on them and they either didn't tighten the head properly or reused old bolts, Anyway got head gasket and new bolts just awaiting for the head locating dowels to turn up and o can hopefully get it all back together tomorrow:D
