Need to sort the battery for Disco.
Someone mentioned getting one with a 1000 CCA. Does this look ok

I'm hoping it will be a good battery for winch etc if ever i get a 110.

Thats a good site for batts, the Numax are OK just get the biggest capacity AH you can fit in the space some are 120ah also check the terminals are the correct way. The extra set of terminals are good to connect the winch.

The problem with normal batteries they dont have enough capacity and if you run them down they often will not recharge. The numax is an in between battery at a good price, if your doing lots of winching or running it flat regular it wont last, as a general starter and occasional winch battery its ideal. The Odyssey seem highly though of as are Optima but all a lot more expensive I have one of these

Leisure battery is a bit of missleading term, some are for slow draw devices only, like a fridge etc others are also OK for starting. On the tanya site with the numax it states if they are a starting and deep cycle or just deep cycle.
Just like Optima have Red and yellow tops or even blue, for the different uses

Im running this battery, it is perfect for a disco. the term 'leisure battery' isnt really correct for this one, it has a CCA (Cold Cranking Amps) of 1000CCA, this is more than enough for a disco (disco will want about 650CCA min). The good thing with this is its 100AH (Amp Hour) compared to a standard battery of about 50AH so it will run more electrical items, it also has secondary posts to make better accessory connections.

This is my winch battery on mine due to the CCA, im running an optima redtop as my starting battery but your looking about £200 for one of those.

some people say Numax are cheap but to be honest I have had loads of batteries in my VW's and other vehicles and none are great, I haven't had a single issue with my Numax and I recently used it for 3 full length winches one after the other and it didn't falter at all!

thats it, a leisure batt can have massive reserve but cannot deliver enough to start a car or winch but would run a fridge for days, or it can do both.
Batteries described as traction, semi traction or marine will usually be OK for starting and winching and will recover from being discharged.

A few of us are doing bures tomorrow if anyone els fancies it... Last one till September

Wish you had posted earlier, arranged to go and pick up a new gearbox in the morning and can't put off as i have had a right deal :D so hopefully no more clunking as that's the whole running gear replaced:rolleyes:
Also mot time next week fingers crossed

Did you have to adjust anything for it?
It will not fit due to two pipes (think the ac). Max size is 270mm wide.

My starting battery is an Optima which are smaller, the numax sits where the jack use to be. Do you use your a/c? I ripped mine out, the a/c rad got in the way of my winch :D

I would imagine if you loosen the mounting brackets you should be able to bend the pipes out the way, they are ally pipes so if you be gentle and take care not to kink you can move them quite a bit
