I never found any damage or wear I could put down to bures. Just make sure you clean the truck soon after and don't run around with sand in your important bits.
A few fast runs through the water before leaving helps and there is a car wash in braintree you could use. £1 for 3 minutes of high power jet wash does wonders.

Cant put any wear down to Bures in total, but it deff increases acceleration of the wear in the brake pads, and since i replaced my last 2 alternator that went wrong after going to Bures during and shortly after,
The last alternator I have not needed to replace it.

Had a few bits finished at work at work last week for a company that builds vehciles for the forces, in that nice sandy brown..... now wondering how my Disco would look in it.......and the mud would not show....

Sorry I've been a bit quite of late, had a death in the family so havent had the chance to get on here much.
Matt:
if you are still up for it, I would like to come see you this weekend (29/30th) to do the following:
Fit a mondeo electric fan and remove Viscous
Fit stainless intercooler piping (i will pick up the silicone this week, i believe its 54mm correct)
Remount and reseal Airfilter (i will pick up some new piping)
ALSO, can you get hold of thin sheet aluminium?
