Laning:
Provided I get the Disco sorted intime I'm going to suggest a day laning on Saturday 18th
Its the driving day on Sunday which I won't be able to make.
Who is up for it and where to go.
I think my vote would be the route we did after Christmas. But incorping Terling Ford (on route down, well for me :D ) and Good Easter ford (never been before).

Also I'm going to try and do the lift kit during that week (commencing Monday 13th) Stu would it be OK to borrow the spring compressor then.
Anyone want to come round and help for a few beer tokens.

How long will it take?

Drizz, I think an A team paintwork would be good with them big wheels!
How is the project coming along?

For a mechanic half day, i would allow yourself a day make sure you have everything to hand so you have'nt got to go out to get something.

Saturday is good to do the xmas route plus a few fords, on the understanding
if my motor is'nt fixed you can't go without me again.

LOL - I forgot about that!
Hopefully 2nd time lucky.

I might try and get a days leave booked that week then, don't want to be stopped by a half done motor.
Just hoep the kit arrives on time.

Nick. I can give you a hand. It actually took me a day and a half - 2 days near on as I had a lot of issues with stuck things and a jack that kept on collapsing :(

I would suggest you start soaking all bolts we need to undo INCLUDING turret rings and spring retaining clips. You'll want 2 new front turret rings as these will snap. They're only £2 each so get them as sods law states if you try and undo them over the weekend, no one will have them instock!!!

And you'll want the usual axle stands (tall as you can get) and 2x trolley jacks. I've got a huge one and a smaller one I can bring if needed. Got a set of spring compressors too but I don't reckon they'll last much longer so you'd be best off robbing Stu's.

I wasn't in none of them

Sure my disco is invisible. A stupid old woman nearly drove square into me head on today too

You wasn't in any of of them. ( you can not use double negatives in the same sentence, did you not pay attention in english class's )

good news cv's are ok, bad news is swivel pin bearing are donald ducked.
no prizes for guessing who will not be going laning again. while im under there gonna change all oils and replace steering rods with heavy duty ones, replace drop arm ball joint and no doubt some other fecking part will fall off while im under there. Oh well now i've got that off my chest gonna crack open another bottle of red and get totally rat arsed.

Oh bad luck, do you think you'll get them done in time for the 18th?

If I am about I'll give you a hand Nick.

Just get squirting NOW on all your bolts............

Cheers Stu,
If the kit arrives on time I might try and get the 14th off.
Also need to think about replacing the doughnut. Its not looking good and I'm sure the lift kit will finish off (mostly likely to happen in the middle of Terling ford  )

Nothing major will happen, you'll just get a terrible vibration and clonking sound. I'm going to get a spacer jobbie made up for mine.

Will it just be a solid one.... I hope not, as the prop will not be able to move with the diff/gear box.

Best way is to put a 200tdi or a V8 prop on it with a UJ at both ends then use a spacer to make up the lift diiferance , you can get a spaer for about £20.00

15mm propshaft Prop spacer Land Rover Discovery Tdi | eBay UK

you will also need a one of these

LAND ROVER DISCOVERY 1 4 BOLT REAR DIFF FLANGE KIT | eBay UK

That then get rid of the doughnut.

or of course put a wide angle prop on.......

Also have you planed the route, to me if your memeory serves you right sounds like you dont know it all that well.

I will not be able to do it as its a bit far for me to come , but thanks for the invite.
