Yep, expensive stuff.
As the MOT is up at the end of the month and my handbrake drum has been full of crap and un-used for over 6 months I think I will be investing in an X-brake.
Also gotta sort out wiring up the electric fan, fitting my stick on number, plate, un-blocking the washer jets and replace the broken headlight and indicator lol.

Chris, did you get your lights sorted?
Found a breakers in Norwich who are breaking a 300 same colour as mine.
I've asked for price on the front wing. If you wanted the lights he could send down on the same shipment?
I'll let you know when he comes back to me ref the wing.

Sorry to hear about the motor fella, hope you get it sorted.

I'm up for a fix it day as well. Though at the moment my workshop is in need of a serious tidy up before I could offer it here lol. Hopefully im gonna have enough time off on friday to get mine running again. I have a feeling Im gonna have to try and remove the alarm as im pretty sure its causing a problem with the electrics.

Long old day, started off me going to my mates garage in colchester to get the floor welded up (had a small 4" hole just behind the passenger seat) just coming off the A12 and i notice the battery light on  the steering had also gone very heavy. Thought the aux belt had snapped so limped it to my mates garage (2 mins from A12). Belt was fine but the tensioner bearing had colapsed, chucking the belt off

New tensioner ordered and fitted. 4" hole ended up being around 18" of plate being welded in  On the way home temp needle shot up to halfway very quick and cold heaters, pull over and have steam ****ing out from under the bonnet. Rad pipes rock solid and expansion bottle looked like a mini volcano

Saturday took the head off

Got to get it pressure checked as it has a few cracks round the glowplug holes plus one of the glowplugs had oil on the shaft of it which didnt fill me with hope :(

I also need a new rad as mine has more mud in it then fins

Happy days :D

BTW does anyone have a crank locking tool as i might as well do the cam belt now

Sorry to hear this mate, Just changed my head Gasket (Unnessersarily as it turned out) trying to find the source of my blue smoke.

I did find oil in one of my glowplug holes and a few of the injector holes, but thought it was normal. I hope it dont mean a cracked head.

Had it looked over and cleaned up and it seemed fine.

I have just brought a flywheel locking and Injector pump locking tool set from ebay.

You are welcome to borrow them. I'll happily bring them over to you and give you a hand as I was thinking of doing mine. Not so sure now as its still smoking heavily. :(

Great idea.
if they have one coming up soon I'd be there!

Maybe it does? but it also seems fair!
He's paying rent on the place and I would be happy not to be laying on a gravel bed. If he is happy to do so then I could do any of the following:
Saturday 19th March
Sunday 20th March
Saturday 26th March

Or if it needs to be mid week, I am happy to take a day off work:D also means my monthly weekend pass for some laning / pay & play day is kept free!

I have just spoke to my mate and he is happy to oblige.

He can accomodate 3 landy's, maybe 4 at a push if he moves one of his cars outside.

I sudgested maybe £10 each for use of the facilities including jacks and ramps. He has tools, and I am sure he could lend a few as long as he gets them back clean, but if you can bring your own all the better.

I usually bring my own tools, its so much easier.

Sunday is best as it will mean less inconvenience for the other residents, as most wont be there.

how is the 20th May for you?

Is the flywheel lock upto taking the torque of the crank pully bolt? the normal tool bolts on the crank pully and rests against the chassis.

There is no way of oil to get in the glowplug bores unless through a crack from the oilways IMO.

Daughters birthday.
if the dates changes or one day is not enough please let me know.

OH no Tusken, sorry to hear that mate , hope you get it fixed with out too much hassle.

I had my belt go at Bures think I was lucky tho, as I had a large Garden water sprayer with me full of water, so kept on stoping every few miles to let the engine cool, and spry it with a bit of water, I seemed to have been lucky.

Good luck with it mate, thinking about ya.

Jacked up the front wheels this morn, checked for play to see it the nuts needed a tweak, not required.... :)

also put me tints on this morning, should of done a small side window first, but done the back one frist, so not all that good, got better as the job went on, lol

Should have gone darker as well, lol

Back to work tomorrow...... :):):):)

Tusken, hope you get it sorted soon.
Likewise Brian, I take it from your comment that the head is back on and no improvement in oil usage / smoke?

I'm well out of depth re your engine, but could the turbo be at fault?

Sorry, my fault, I meant 20th March..... One of the dates you put origionally.

Sorry for any confusion.

Mine is the one that screws into the flywheel housing to lock the flywheel.

I have no idea if it will take the torque of removing the crank pully.

I have never heard of the tool you mention, but sounds more sturdy to undo the bolt. Maybe you need the one I have got just to line up the pistons so number 1 is at TDC

Been looking on here and some other LR forums and it seems the trick if you havent got the tool is 5th gear, diff lock, foot on brake and then a fook off big bar :D

Lets have a look at the tints. I want to do all mine behind b pillar limo black as I may use it to keep my tools in.

Tried that with mine, also had Stu's truck pushing mine with a breaker bar wedged on the chassis. Didnt come off, bit tight!
Got it off with the air gun in the end. 1300l tank and a 800ft/lb gun did the trick!!

Not a pro job but will do me, got a few flaws but Hey 1st time I have done them, I went for the 20%, as I say should of gone darker ie limo 5%. but did not want it too dark.

As I said practice on a smaller window first, the precut tints that I brought were ok but the boot side windows could have been done with being slightly bigger.

I did get a quote from a guy to do them but he wanted £170, so I thought I would try a £29 precut from ebay.

I will prob be redoing the Back door window, at a later date, I was going to scrap it but thought i would do it and then make up my mind weather or not I realy want the 20% tint or want the limo 5%.
