My AC is as useless as tits on a teapot if I can't even get the feckin car to work.

Ok ok I need to get this bile out now. I'm sure I'll be singing the praises of the K series engine next week when mines on the road again .

Whys it off the road? Anything major?

Not to hijack your thread but since you asked; we think we are 98% of the way there to getting the EWP system to work properly, however I am now running at -15% patience capacity. Therefore I have ordered all the orginal hoses and thermostat (which were knackered when I got the car) and later this week I'm going to gut all the EWP bits and restore it to the "standard" modded PRT system on my Dad's driveway in Wales 150 miles away were it has been sat since it ####ing broke down on xmas eve. The I'm going to DRIVE IT THE #### HOME.

Also if it gives me any more serious gip in the next year it's going and I'll be buying a TD4 or Jap.

wouldnt mind a V6 but a V6 transverse engine just seems odd - on offence to anyone or anything but just me I suppose

Abergavenny area :). Not there often though.

If you run a search you will easily find the complete chronology of my experiments with the Davies Craig Electric Water Pump system. We were very nearly there but because of sudden, unexplained - and according to the supplier - unheard of equipment failure I lost patience and I'm packing it in. If the head gasket goes again then I may revisit the experiment but until then all I can say is:

Listen to Freelaner - he knows what's best for yer 1.8 Hippo. I'd be several 'undrud quid richer if I had .

i think the ewp isnt the answer for std k series ,though appeals as seems technical the issue is with suitable gasket and correct maintainance

At this point I agree mate, I'm pretty sure that coolant leaks are the main cause of HGF on up-to-date patched 1.8's. If you are vigilant and make sure your hosework is good then this is a very small risk.

I was up there the other day there's a company called elite arches they bend PVC window profile and I had a couple of windows to collect lol some nice roads up that way lol

:faint2::jaw:;)

Fair play to you mate your head was in the right place though I'm still glad we did it :). Like JM said, EWP doesn't really offer proven benefits over properly maintained latest version K series cooling/gaskets.

Yeh probably some class lanes nearby, I'm planning some mini-expeditions to the Blacks and Beacons next year (camping and laning hols) so maybe we'll see you there :).

Mostly I'm glad that I now think that between us all we can close the lid on the K series cooling and HG issues. If y'all wouldn't object, I'd be happy to write a comprehensive guide to getting the K series to where it needs to be and a full guide to all options and mods available (inc EWP) along with diagrams and part numbers. That way when we get newbs with blowed up 1.8's we can just linky them. Hell I might even ask LRO if they would print it if it turns out good :).

:hysterically_laughi Misery does love company :D!

i don't mind at all, if i have put anything of use up that you can use, use it ;)

if it goes to a magazine i will, of course, expect a mention though :)

Yeh course :). But I don't think they;d be that interested, they're doing quite a bit on Hippo's themselves at the moment anyway.

It'd just be nice to have something like Hippo's guide to Hippo's as that's a really good link for newbs.
