Evening All!

Appologies in advance for a the dumb question but ..heres goes ..... got myself all geared up to do my first service on a 03 110 TD5 this evening and came unstock at the first hurdle ...
Jacked it up on Anxle stands and removed all 6 bolts of the undertray but couldn't figure out how to remove it - is there somethng else that needs to be "dropped" before th unertray can be removed?
I'm conscious of not undoing too much and get myself beyond my limitations! ;)

You need to take off the front propshaft before you can remove the undertray in one piece.
I just cut the thing into bits and chucked it away because it was a pain in the butt.
 
Join the club, Unfastened the seriously rusted screws and attempted to remove it one piece. In the end realised it was nowt but a pain in the.... and i snapped it into bits and lobbed it in the bin!

Saves so much time when you want to do work on your car :) Plus you can get underneath anytime you want and have alook around for any leaks

Figured it out I needed to drop the propshaft after half an hour! :confused2:
Couldn't believe it required that amount of effort to take off an undertray??
Anyway - after all my efforts in getting it off in one piece it now sounds like I need to give it a bit of the ol' consaw treatment:mil10:

and bin it!

I miss mine like a hole in the head. It was there because some countries have strict regulations on noise but as far as I could see it just made doing anything a pain. When wading it just collected mud and crap which stayed wet and could rot the chassis. I also binned the acoustic covers from the top and back of the engine for the same reason. I can hear no real difference in cabin noise and can see if any leaks are developing before they become too serious.
 
Dear all - I am using my Def 110 a lot on motorways. I have seen on ebay a set of 2 items that is being described as a gearbox soundproofing panel, but in fact I think it is an engine undertray, which also acts as soundproofing barrier.

I have attached the pics - could you tell me if any of you recognises these parts and can tell me if somehow they can be made fit the chassis of a 1987 Def 110 former v8 fitted with an Isuzu 2.8 heavy duty engine? I know you all think this may be madness, but I (and neighbours) can do with some less noise!

The ebay item closes in 6 days - any help in advance is very welcome :)

The first Pic is definitely the undedtray for theTD5 -i've just removed mine and been advised not to bother putting it back on - easier to spot the oil leaks! ;) Ddont know what the sec pic is off. Doubt either of these will dampen too much noice but good luck with it. What price are they looking for them on ebay - i'd sell you mine only you have to come collect them in Eire :)
 
Yes - I think a) the pics show both items front / back. the first is therefore the engine undertray (thanks all for quick input), the 2nd item I suspect will be the undertray that fits under the gear / Transfer box.
