Is there any engines that would fit in a 03 freelander 1.8 petrol. I have put 3 different engines in this week (k lumps) and they all had there problems after being told they are good runners ect. The one that's in there now has got a lot of pressure in the rocker cover and puts oil in the inlet manifold. I assume this is head gasget or it's dropped a liner. Is there something else that will go in without a lot of hassle like a honda lump or similar.

i've often wondered wether a honda lump would fit being as rover used the same gearboxes and electrics on some 90's rovers but aint got a clue.

Thanks for the answers but at 10am tomorrow she will be going to the great scrap heap in the sky and I will have £120 in my pocket. It was to expensive to keep her.
Thanks again

I should of kept a lot of things of it the clutch was new only done about 10miles. I won't be having another one that's for sure. Going jap this time I think.

Are you saying that you put 3 different K's in the same car in one week and they all went poot?

I simply can't believe you've been that unlucky. Can you give us more information about what you've done to upgarde the engines and whether you have addressed the dificiencies in the cooling system?

Gearbox is on the wrong end of the Honda engined rovers!

It would be an interesting conversion. Especially if the T16 Turbo was used!!

imagine all that torque going through the IRD

I know, there's another thread going where someone reckon he's done it with a 2.0 turbo from an mgzr! I thought they got the 1.8 vvc as the top spec engine so I do wonder! Nothing to back it up either.

i've done quite a bit of research and haven't found any mention of a viable conversion that has been 4x4.

maybe you could be the first, mind you the k-series is a good engine if you look after it.

and yours won't need to be converted, so it's theoretical unless you get a project wiv blown engine.
