Aye, focus on the fact that you were not hurt. Could have been a life game changer!
I'd be a tad concerned about the main bearing housing integrity. How far did it fall?

Essentially from the top of the engine stand, but because it pivoted forward as the front strap snapped so then landed basically straight on the crank shaft and flipped over.

Is the main bearing housing part of the engine block?

Yes, I think that is the correct term for the bearings that effectively hold the crank to the block. If you still have the crank fixed in and it landed on the end of the crankshaft, then I suspect the initial force would go via those bearing housings. Especially the central one with the thrust washers. I have no experience of this, so this is all supposition based on what's happened. I would seek better opinions than mine on this though.

Thanks for the heads up. Hmmmmm I’m starting to wonder if I should send the block off to a specialist to check out. @jamesmartin what are your thoughts on the subject?

I read that when TVR starting building their own 5 litre engines they had a few crankshaft failures. To make sure the raw forgings were OK they chucked them from a mezzanine down to the factory floor. If they survived they got machined. File off any dents and carry on.

Well if you will name your company Trevor then I guess anything goes!

Look what’s arrived today thanks to Diesel Bob.

Sadly it looks like parcel force has thrown the box around combined with some suboptimal packaging means the timing lock bolt was sticking out the bottom of the package. The world is full of morons. Doesn’t look like any real damage but won’t know I guess until it’s on the vehicle.

Aye, there's always niggling little things like this, but as I said earlier it's all part and parcel of big projects. The bolt would poke through the card if it was up against something soft!
Serviced injectors make a great difference. Mine did anyway. The FIP looks great. I must get mine done at some point. How much did the FIP service cost, if you don't mind me asking?

Having looked over the items looks a good job and you’re right, always something, I’m just a bit of a perfectionist at work (my boss would **** on me if I wasn’t) and get frustrated at preventable issues.

All 4 injectors needed servicing with new nozzles and I had a full pump rebuild - cost £580. They said the pump could have just had a service but I was keen to future proof it.

Just been looking at his site. Was the £580 for the pump rebuild only?

Couple of questions:

How does the fuel filter housing attach to the bulk head? I ask as one of the bolts is missing and its fine but somewhat annoying? Is it possible to replace without taking dash off etc?

Second question - same with the washer jet, is it possible to replace without removing dash?

There are two rivnuts in the bulkhead for the filter or should be.
