I "knew" I had a misfire, but never thought it was a head gasket issue until the heads came off. THEN, I didn't know I had a hole in me ingin until I found the damnable hole....

bit of work with a dremel to clean/dovetail the area, bit o chemical metal and some deft bastard and smoothing then build her up...your a long time dead!

Liners drop due to the block cracking near the water jacket.
On some RV8 blocks the water galleries are offset due to poor tooling and the thin wall cracks allowing the block to shrink away from the liner and you get the tell tale tapping in short etc
The bit of "shít" you can see on the block deck i'd be inclined to throw a new composite gasket and throw it back together the fire ring will more than cover that up. , putting a new bottom end on it will be cost prohibitive, and not worth it in the long run.
It is worth more in parts..
I have a composite gasket set and new stretch head bolts. But that "hole" has me imagining all sorts
It looks like it was already thrown together with composite gaskets and it lasted 22k miles

I did wonder if something like that could be done. I've known people fill cracks and even wedge wire in and skim it and they've lasted. Never tried on an RV8 though.

tis only a little ickle flaw and above the line of the 1st compression ring.
Remarkable stuff, but all this "I couldn't live myself," whilst admirable, is not really how one should prepare a vehicle for sale....really.Either that or put it in the donor with some Quiksteel and sell as running spare or repairs.
I used that Quiksteel in a trailer 20 odd years ago for some bolts that sheared off. It was supposed to be a get out of jail to get me back but I still see the trailer occasionally and the damn stuff is still there!
