l see people are still arguing about the C3 oil being OK in my TD5 though. It's listed as medium in the SAPS rating so not totally devoid of additives.
Maybe l should put an additive in the oil!! Such as Millers.

I won't get involved with this post anymore, I will type my last words on this topic and I will leave it at that. What I can say (again) is that what you have got in your engine is a good oil, a 5W40 or 10W40 PD C3 is just fine in your TD5 - you have used 5W40 I think you said, you could use a 10 for the cold but 5 is good too, the hot running grade is perfect at 40 in our climate and warmer. As said before in this post it has a medium level of Sulphated Ash, Phosphorous, Sulphur, it has reduced ZDDP (too much can actually cause wear!) which is fine, it is an old technology anyway, been about since the 40's, which are all good things for DPF's and CAT's, I know the TD5 has no DPF so it is not required, it is overkill but fine.

Someone on this forum has an issue with the C3 class oil, I suspect they don't actually know enough about the topic. What ought to be considered is that when oil companies remove additives, they replace them with something else, as a ZDDP additive package is not good enough for a PD engine and causes horrendous wear, they dose it with something even better, something that has not been about for 77 years! Otherwise explain how it is that a PD oil in a VAG 1.9 TDI oil stops the cam lobe from wearing a groove through it, run it on PD oil and the thing will be perfect.

Lighting, ultimately you wanted to know if this oil you currently have in your TD5 will be OK, I know you will not buy this oil again, you will go back to your normal spec, a good manufacturers 10W40 will probably be a good option for you but there is nothing wrong with what is in your engine just now.

Just to second what discomania has said. There is nothing wrong with the C grade oil in that situation, and as long as you have the hot ie 40 grade oil it's going to cope with the temperatures just fine. Crack on and have a good holiday.
