Noticed my oil level was a bit high a few weeks ago so stopped driving it and today gone to do the injector seals. I can't see any diesel coming up but found the oil had thick glupy spots on the rocker cover. Is this due to diesel dilution? The oil was only changed around 3 months ago / maybe 1500-2000miles. I've seen it before on other peoples vehicles but assumed it was down to not changing the oil...

diesel just thins it,lack of changes is where i usually see it

That's what I was think but.... oil gets changed very regularly here - probably every 2-3000 miles! As long as it's "normal" that's fine o_O I've only seen it in vehicles that don't get looked after!

Guess it depends on the age of the motor!
I've only ever taken rocker covers off older examples, never looked inside a 5 year old engine
Lack of oil changes won't help, but, of it sounds sweet then all is good

Hadn't noticed that! Is it like the 'milk' you get from oil/water mix? Condensate from a few short journeys?
Have you found the cause of the high oil level?

I was just thinking that, I do a fair amount of short journeys. I haven't pulled in injectors yet but I couldn't see or hear any diesel coming up from around them. Very odd - as you can normally see it

On closer inspection there are spots of red in the oil, looks like coolant! So how would there be coolant in the oil but no oil in the coolant ?

Oops! High pressure coolant can get into oil on low pressure side. Think that's what can happen if you have a poorly oil cooler. But i might be mixed up

From what I've read failed oil cooler seals let oil in the coolant, coolant in the oil is more likely head :(

Looks like your engine has been used for short distance driving where it hasn’t got up to temp,

Try using forte engine flush then change oil and filter (10w40 semi)

That's what I assumed at first but the oil cap was clean (normally get sludge in it) then I found coolant in the oil.

The oil cap doesn’t get affected as the oil splash guard is in the way really, if the cam lobes and rockers are in good shape then you are not to worry

it”ll be alright mate don’t worry for the minute, can you clean the bits on the rocker cover with brake cleaner, then after that forte engine flush
