Dec 2004 range rover 4.4 v8 vogue
Hi All,
I was recently in the isle of mann for the tt and one morning my rr said check coolant level. There was a mechanic 20 yrds away so I was in luck. I rolled it in and he topped it up with 1.5-2 ltrs of coolant. He said hope you have a leak because that's a lot. Anyways later that day I noticed a coolant puddle under the expansion tank and took it to a LR dealer on the island. I was told that the dealer had no parts in stock so keep an eye on it on my way home to London that day. he also told me that the mechanic had put the wrong coolant in and it should have been blue not orange. He said that it would be ok to drive home on but more than likely had done damage already. I was freaked and called my LR specialist at sayers on the a30 as I was prepared to get it flushed before leaving but he said it was fine and that it had orange to start with and that it was the early banger that had blue. Well I relaxed but now it has gone mad !! the expansion tank has a pin hole ****ing out fluid and the engine light is on !!! I have just ordered a new tank off ebay but am really concerned as to why the engine light is on. I topped it up with clear coolant from petrol station which said can be mixed with any coolant. It took 1.5 ltrs.
Ps I had this car given a major service only a month ago changing all fluids, tranny diffs etc. cleaned the pcv, new front discs and pads, etc etc. cost a fortune
