Finally changed the thermostat, flushed the coolant system refilled with new antifreeze and bled the system. The car gets up to temp quicker but its still blowing cool air in the cabin any ideas where I should look next thanks
 
Have you looked in the workshop manual and seen how the system works?

Are the pipes going to and from the heater matrix warm/ hot?

Over a certain speed the car will blow fresh, cold air in through the dash vents, but hot onto the floor, they are supposed to. Not sure if this is what you are referring to, otherwise as said check the heater matrix pipes to ensure they are hot as they disappear from the rear of the bonnet into the cabin. Did you bleed it properly, by lifting the header tank off its mountings and holding it up higher while filling, with the bleed screw on the top hose open until fluid comes out without bubbles?
 
Some are a pain to get all the air out of properly, sometimes a good fast drive does the trick and removes an airlock...

Its a land rover, what can I say.....:):)
 
Did you reverse flush the heater matrix when you drained ? They're prone to blocking up with crud and it might have moved and restricting flow ,
 
Look at sierraferrys thread on this he has an excellent way of doing it ,tells you everthever from start to finish.

Yes I followed the other thread for bleeding the system I didnt realise the dash vents were meant to blow cool air lol will check it when I get back to see if it blows hot on the floor and screen as I have had it on the dash vents to test it.
 
It might blow cold on AUTO setting when the temperature in the cabin has reached the preset temp as to keep it at that level... next time when it happens set both sides to high and if then will blow hot tere's nothing wrong with then cooling circuit, it's just like that

I've never have it on auto as i'm nesh I allways have it on hottest setting tried it with the aircon on as well but that made no difference.
 
I found that I had to fully run the vehicle up to hot on a good run a couple of times and bleed again the next day and again until finally settled down.
Real pain in the arse bleeding these things.
 
Well if your switched to manual and not "climate control" then the heater matrix is hot all the time after the engine starts heating up, it's on it own closed circuit therefore not depending on the engine thermostat, so to control the heating into the cab is dampers (flaps) and I n manual mode it as simple a turning the temp control to your desired temperature, I'd as simple as that..S are the controls working? but as you have two controls L &R so doubtful that both are faulty

So is the matrix hot, if so why isn't the heat getting through passed the matrix into the cab.
 
I find the cold air from the face vents quite irritating sometimes although I know it's supposed to be like that. Slightly lukewarm would be better.....
 
Checked the pipes that go to the matrix I think... is there one close to the turbo and one next to the servo on the other side of the engine if they are the ones then they were only luke warm. Ive just topped the system up again so will see how that goes when I go out later.
 
The two pipes go through the bulkhead one beside the other just to the rear left of the engine as you stand looking under the bonnet, they are rubber hoses. It still sounds a bit like an air lock. Go out in it, get it really hot and do a fast drive 70mphish(!!) and hopefully that will blow any airlock through.
