Has the MOT man the right to remove your engine cover? ..cos if not and the solenoids are left there how would he know you dont have EGR?

as far as i’m aware they aren’t allowed to remove any panel

know for mine u can see if the egr pipes are missing very easily , same on a freelander 1 , seeing the complete egr is removed

but don’t know what it’s like on other engines
 
It takes about 15 minutes to replace it if exhaust manifold bolts are well copper greased. Can fit pipe with blanking plate as a “gasket” and also remove butterfly from valve itself tp reduce restriction.

Yes i know it can, if you read you will see i referred to people who have removed their EGR valve and fitted one of the replacement so called free flow units from Ebay and other sources. That stick out like a sore thumb. You don't even need a blanking plate all you need to do is clean the EGR valve Manifold Etc, then remove the vac pipe and block it off. Then reattach as required.

just removing the vac hoses alone does not assure how well your EGR valve seat is so this is not a delete
also like i said having the EGR delted means more qaulity time can be spent else where

as for sticking out as sore thumb i think they look rather sexy 4 small bolts and a hose clamp very easy

LOL considering i work with emissions and many different types
look back at history VW they where beating emissions when the bonnet was open very simple as the ECU selected a different map but they got caught out

the td5 system is very basic and you can also smash out the CATS at a glance the CAT is still in place

another example an inlet or exhaust valve if this leaks should i just clean it ..same goes for an egr valve mate how dead set sure its is sealing 100% against exhaust pressure

i really dont see why there is an issue hear it comes down to personal choice

It's you creating the issue not i. The EGR valve can be cleaned checked for function, seal, seat and spring tension checked very simply. Removing the vac pipe would then seal it. It's not rocket science. The exhaust gas pressure is nowhere near high enough to blow it open.

i was only question you as you where asking why
like i said its a personal choice i see no harm infact wouldnt the free flow be less restriction ?

if you dont want to listen from me ...plenty of info on the net mate explaining ways and whys how to delete a typical EGR
less than 24 hours ago you where asking how does EGR contaminate the engine oil

same deal mate the EGR valve its self does not garrentee a 100% sealing surface soc then they came up with the idea of a blanking plate

remember there is a lazy mans way or the correct way

Yeah there is plenty of info on the net about how free air flow diesel engines are fuelled using MAF airflow readings. But you and i know that is impossible don't we?

ahhh yeah so this means i can remove my MAP sensor and throw this in the bin as i no longer need to read boost or intake temps

ohh i have a K& N filter installed also

According to the MAF sensor flow rates control fuelling brigade it does. The most nonsensical thing i have ever heard yet some will swear that's how it is done. A least we agree on something.

back when mine failed i had to drive around for a few weeks while i had issues with a seller then eventually i purchased a new one from my landrover dealer
i never noticed any fuel consumption and my boost gauge never changed

the only issue i had was the 15 second delay time on engine start up only untill the ECU went into default mode

please be aware of cheap MAF sensors on ebay as they use a diode type rather than the heat strip

back to the EGR
some do a half deletes some do a full deletes some think that just unplugging a few things is a delete only later in life they realise they where wrong

The role the MAF sensor has is to monitor EGR gas flow. And on later EGR setups when EGR is in operation, because of the very fine control of mix of combustible air and exhaust gas to give a near stoichiometric fuel air ration. When EGR is operating and an higher power throttle rate is demanded. The ECU will not allow that throttle increase until the MAF sensor shows an improved air flow to accommodate that throttle/fuel request. So a duff MAF sensor would cause problems in that respect. Simple as that. It is NOT POSSIBLE to fuel a free air flow diesel engine via airflow through a MAF sensor. The engine is throttled by fuel. Neither is it possible to use air to throttle a diesel engine as is done with petrol engines. It is just not possible.

why do some petrol heads remove the choke plates and then install a primer kit

so why do we delete the EGR actuators to a straight through every little helps right

other engines on the market also use stepper motors these are also deleted from a diesel engine when the EGR is deleted

I did, it is not possible some think it is. Fuelling a diesel subject to airflow through a MAF is also not possible some think it is.
