truck is a range rover (freg) bobtail pickup so as its been modified it seems the location of quite a few electrical bits n bobs are in different places.

engine is hotwire btw

she'll start/run momenterily on easystart but wont run.

I've just put a new fuel pump on but the live was dead so i've bodged it for now with a constant live just to try and get running.

Where should the fuel pump relay and fuse be located?

I've been told that thsi might stop the injectors firing? how can i check this?

The plugs are dry so guess no fuel is getting to the front, where is this scruinder valve people talk about?? as the fuel id definately leaving the pump,
thanks

the loom not far from ecu there 2 relays one that feeds system with big brown wires and the other which gets its feed from it has big purple white wire, both relays have to work

Check the wire off the coil negative - this is the injection trigger signal wire (it's white if I remember well) it comes out of the loom next to the air flow meter plug. If the wire is broken or the terminal corroded it would stop the injectors firing.

Have you checked there is fuel reaching the fuel rail? try releasing the end of the fuel feed pipe then flick the ignition on, if fuel squirts out you'll hopefully know if it is a pump issue or an injector issue but please be careful when playing with petrol.

ah i have seen those 2 relays you are talking about! ill give them a test!
The fuel rail is my next port of call a s the fuel pump and post filter are all good, so will have a look at that later, i got frustrated last night and went to the pub instead !lol
thanks for the help!

ok so put the fuel pump wire back how it should be (not bodged witha consatnt live) and now the fuel pump is dead.
Where i'm at so far is the 2 relays by the ecu are clicking fine.
i checked the trigger wire you talk of, cleaned it up, looks ok. On my car it goes into another relay which is screwed onto the bracket that holds the flowmeter. Swapped this for another one that I know works but still nothing.
I'm thinking the injectors not firing, and the fuel pump not cutting in during cracking have to related, but don't really know where to check next?? any thoughts?? cheers

right, so spent all afternoon fiddling and it still wont go, really starting to annoy me now!

Bought 2 new relays, for fuel pumps and they areclicking away fine.

Checked the trigger wire, thats fine, cleaned all the ternminals where that goes into relay, swapped that relay for a new resistor, and traced the trigger wire right back to the loom by the ecu.

But the fuel pump still doesnt kick in to prime or when cranking, so obiuously not firing the injectors, not that it makes much difference as no fuel is getting there!

think all the electrics in the dizz are fine as strong spark and it runs on easy start ok.

So could the ecu be dead?? can they ''break'', or can a nackered maf sensor stop the pump cutting in or would that just cause it to run rough??

any thoughts appreciated as i'm well and truly stuck now!! thanks
