don't think you're daft... you could have been unlucky with a japanese car and spend double that money to fix only one fault;) ...after all the latent faults with which you bought it are fixed there will be many peacefull days

then it seems the BCU is gone, unless you didnt unsync'/ruin the fob with those tricks

with no spare key there is little i can do except go back to the conclusion that it is the bcu, after all the locking/alarm system was definately showing signs of dying (that or the key i suppose).

Anyways without being able to talk to the car to resync the key or find out if the key even works by trying it in another disco, my choices are limited.

I found a company that can repair the bcu and if not may be able to download its data and apply it to a new one....... that may be best solution.

Once i have a repaired bcu (and the key is ok) then it should work and if not, at least i will be able to talk to the bcu and sync 2 new fobs i have.

Unless there is anything else i can do?

I owe you a cold one for all your help

if you can find a working BCU from a reliable source IMO you better go for that, i'm very suspicious about a locked BCU repair, if you get a working BCU you can programm it yourself you dont need to download anything from the old one,

Call Paul on

that ^^^ guy is 100% reliable, give him a call and you'll get a perfectly working BCU i'm sure

Thanks....... ill give him a call tomorrow.
Couple of questions:

1. I take it my mileage will reset to the sourced bdu mileage,
do i have to tell dvla if thats the case........mine only done 122k

2. Is it hard to program, take it injectors will need programmed or does all that info come from engine ECU?

i was going to jump thread and look that up myself, just thought may be handy to keep here in one thread so people can see progress and issues until this is resolved, and it will be resolved, cant afford it not to be, otherwise how am i going to get away from zombies. :mil90:

he'll explain you in the Queen's enlgish better how to manage to keep the mileage you have on the odometer, you'll have to be carefull when you program it to not sync the BCU mileage with the odometer mileage only to disable the odometer warning...ask him everything about how to make it work cos he knows as he is testing the BCUs on a test car.... injector codes are in the engine ECU, you'll have to enter in that one only to make it learn the security code that's all

good luck, i'm sure it'll be a happy end after all, the guy works with nanocom as well so he'll be able to give you the best info cos even if i have nanocom too i've used mainly hawkeye to make these things as hawkeye was my first tool and got used to it

just hoping i have enough funds to keep it on road. not too sure if this one is a good one or not, i reckon that ace unit can only leak again, it was just a pin hole but could so easily happen again and in an inaccessible place. Reckon if i get this thing going, im going to bypass the ace, blank the egr and weld plates over the sunroofs. Then its getting a bull bar, full roof rack, light bar and Decepticon badge. When it was running it ran consitently and pretty well except it was slow off the mark, very. Maybe an engine remap will be on the cards too. oh and a new windscreen which this morning appears with a 10 inch crack right in drivers view....... oh the joys of motoring! I hope to one day say "yep, shes a cracker, had her 15yrs and still going strong"....lol (thats hysterical laughter i might add)

Got Paul on the phone today, like you say a top bloke, great advice and looks like i may get away with installing a new RF Receiver rather than BCU...... one on the way.

Paul reckons i have the later models which as i bought a directly replacement means it was changed before i got it and i was lucky it worked at all.

The one i have and replaced has the earth strap to the right, Paul said this likely to have replaced the one that does not have an earth strap is oval and if replaced with what the car should have, it may just be all thats needed.......... fingers crossed.

watching this with interest;) ... that's the benefit of talking with somebody in your own language as i didnt even imagine that you've got the wrong receiver with my way of understanding english... fingers crossed as well:D

New and correct RF Receiver fitted........ and the truck......... still dead#!!

new BCU it is then (sigh)

BCU just arrived at door, should i install it with the battery at least off the negative terminal or can it be installed with a live system?
