Spoke to soon, went out this morning offside rear is sitting on the bump stops. I already suspected this by the way it was adjusting but from sitting in the driver seat it was difficult to tell whether the front was dropping our back coming up.
Your revised thoughts.

Just one corner? Have you pulled the EAS relay out? I would have thought it would equalise all around unless it is a big leak. If you haven't pulled it out, try pulling it out. Big rectangular thing on seperate under the passenger seat by the EAS computer. With it out the car won't self level. If you've got an emergency inflator kit (or the car is lucky enough to still be up in the air) then wait and see if any particular corner drops.

How old are the airbags? Datatek reckons they last about 7 or 8 years before they need replacing.

If you take the compressor out you can connect it to a battery. From memory the black wire has a pin all its own which goes to earth. Ignore the orange pin and connect the postive to the green wire. The outlet from the compressor is a brass nut where the blue line went in. It should blow your finger clean off.

If the pump doesn't run it is probably a duff thermal switch. Check Wammers How To guide on checking the continuity on the orange wire!

How are the quotes coming on?!

When I say blow your finger clean off, I'm not talking Dirty Harry type appendages spread over a wide area with splatterings of blood. I mean you cannot keep your finger / thumb over it without air escaping.

No haven't done that yet. Fingers still in one, sorry ten pieces. Anyway, yeah just one corner. Strange thing is that tried starting car three times but it never changed, then suddenly on fourth attempt the o/s corner comes up no problem it is sitting about a thumb lower than the rest (technical measurement). Car has driven all day still showing the Xmas tree, but no hard fault, I even fixed my cruise control. Still sitting in drive looking every bit the beast that it is. Had a couple of wives but never thought it was possible to hate something so much but love it at the same time. Lol

Airbag leaks open and close where the bag folds under. My guess is that the bag is leaking and the pump shuts off due to an overheat keeping up with the leak. Leave it to cool long enough and it works again. You need to get under it when it's up (with axle stands under the chassis) and check for leaks with soapy water, or just look for signs of a perished surface. almost certainly you need to replace the airbags, do it before you need a new compressor seal.

Sounds like a sensor thought it was somewhere that it wasn't. Then realised it's error.

Whats the capacity of the tank?
Was thinking if its possible to rig it up to use as emergency only valve to top up tires
I saw a guy doing this today but from a waggon
Ive got all the fitings to do it if its viable

Buy yourself one of those little emergency compressors for that job. Save yourself some hassle.

I find airbag leaks are often difficult to spot, even with soapy water. The best way I've found is to get her on high setting and level, switch off, pull EAS delay timer out from under the passenger seat (right-hand-drive) and then come back the next day or a few days later. If a corner has dropped you've got an issue. If the bags are over 7 years then replace the lot.
