right then my range rover 96 ..compresser run time
how long does your eas pump run for?
for example mine on level ground stationary engine running.
will pump for 9 seconds turn off for 6 seconds and run for 9 seconds off for 6 you get the picture continusly..i have checked for leaks with soppy water cant find a thing..

Should not do that. Compressor should only run when air pressure in tank drops below 120 psi. +- 7psi. Have you checked for a leak in storage side of system. Try soapy water soppy water may be a bit to soft to show a leak up. :D:D:D Or have a look at your pressure switch. Remove exhaust filter, after compressor stops check for air escaping from exhaust port, if it is you have a leaking NRV1. :):)

hello again ..i took off the exhaust filter on the block. I can not feel any air escaping
but the suspension keeps moving and adjusting its self when stationary..is this normal?
but what type of time gap should i have between compressor runnings..on flat ground and stationary. cheers

Stationary on the flat with the bonnet shut, the compressor should not run unless there is a leak, nor should the suspension keep adjusting itself.
I would suspect you have one or more porous airsprings so that it is loosing air on one corner which causes it to constantly adjust to maintain height. If the Airsprings are original they almost certainly need replacing.

thanks for your reply . the bags are new the car doesnt lean or sag over nite. but it always goes in to access mode when you start her so you have to press the setting button everytime you pull off .but it does adjust its self when on the motoway over 56mph and when you slow down and rises back up no probs..

Your EAS should not enter access mode automatically, it should resume on the last setting you selected (or was selected automatically due to road speed). Regarding pump running, it can run little and often when you are in traffic, but not stationary, only pressure changes in the resevoir can cause this behaviour, so, as other people have commented, a leak does seem the most likely, but I'm not certain, the operation of the ride height is not correct either, so is something wrong with the control? I would check out the EAS ECU and see if all the inputs look correct before you shell out on replacing any hardware. Do all three ride height switches come on and then extinguish after a few seconds (excepting the selected one of course)? This should happen if the ECU boots up correctly with no errors. Worth a check.

the original eas ecu was deemed faulty and was replaced with a second hand one
does it need calibrating to suit my car..cheers for you reply

Yes, it will need recalibrating for your car, as the stored ride heights for the car it was on will be very unlikley to match your ride height sensors perfectly. I would definitely get your ride height readings checked out by someone with the correct software, I think Datatek can supply leads and software for EAS systems, then you can do it yourself :) providing you are happy using a laptop to connect up to your ECU?
Good luck!

It should not go into access mode unles you select it with the dash button, it should also come out of access mode automatically above about 5mph.
I will need to be calibrated if the ECU has been changed. EAS ECU failure is pretty rare so I wonder if it was changed unneccesarily because there was an unidentified fault.

i wondered that ..i still have the original one i might just put it back and see what happens..every time you start her it automatically goes in access mode..does any know what the timer relay does ?

Do you get all three ride height lights coming on when you start the car up? They should all come on for a few seconds and then all go out, if they don't it's possible that the timer relay is faulty, I had this problem myself and it caused some seemingly unrelated problems.
The purpose of the timer relay is to allow the car to self level when parked and turned off.

alright then swopped eas ecu car went into eas fault all 4 eas lights came and beeping away so guess the old ecu was faulty..rob cavendish..4 lights came on eas manual light came on. started car the lights for access flashed and normal driving mode goes out and car drops down

also when in access mode when you press the up button it goes into motorway mode and sets it self in that position and all other positions do the same..

If in access the first press should be to standard unless the inhibitor switch is pressed next to the height change switch....when it will go to motorway , then next press to standard.

If you change the ECU you have to re-calibrate. All 4 EAS lights and the manual light always come on for a couple of seconds when the ignition is turned on, then the bottom light should stay on if it has dropped and the normal height light should flash until it comes up to height then the bottom light should go out and the normal height light should stop flashing and stay on.

When mine did the same exact thing i ignored it to my peril till one day the whole system collapsed and so with tits bouncing and no eas i limped home... new air bags and springs had to be fitted but .. the old ones were held on with only 1 clip instead of the 3 !! so check that as that was the main cause , then we got one of those Kicker switches to re set and touch wood all has been well ... at least the EAS works .. nothing else does !
