Just to add to this. It's only happening with this compressor (the start stop, not running). Also noticed that after a loooong time, the eas lights show it has achieved standard ride height yet checking on nanocom the live and stored are varying quite a bit!

Only ever had it with this compressor though.

Anyway, hope my new pipe arrives soon and my pressure gauge!

So, dodgy compressor or contacts maybe.

You'd think so.. but if I plug in diagnostics I can switch it on and off without issue. It runs on the bench without fail.

Waiting on some compound to arrive for my other driver pack and I'll get that on with another compressor. Pipe should arrive tomorrow or Friday too so I'll be able to test then.

So I would look at how tight the contacts in the connector assemblies are when in the EAS box.

Little update.

Put an alternative compressor on that's making good air. Tested the temp sensor (according to RSW video) and all is fine. Put it on the car and it's still not running when it should. Nanocom shows it as being hot, when it's not and it'll eventually settle at 'standard' ride height (according to the traffic lights and nanocom) though the heights are way off when reading live data i.e. actual heights are a lot lower than required.

So, today, I'll be replacing the driver pack as I can only presume that's the problem!

If Nanocom shows the compressor as hot, it unlikely to be the driver pack, it's the thermal switch, connectors or wiring IMO.
Sounds as though it also needs calibrating because if the lights have stopped at the correct height, the ECU thinks it's where it should be.
Of course there could be a problem with Nanocom, I always use the EAS software from RSW.

What would cause it to be that far out of calibration?

I mean, if I switch the compressor on via nanocom and leave it sitting on for a minute or two, then disconnect nanocom it'll settle at the right heights eventually. No other changes or anything have been made to it so not sure why it would suddenly all be out of kilter?

Bit confused in all honesty!

Are you sure you are looking at the correct screen when comparing actual to programmed. Normally sensor readings will be within a couple of beats up or down of programmed. If you have it on high screen then readings will be a lot lower when standard is selected on dash. Think you might like to read the instructions a bit more. :D:D

Yes :) It's the first screen under 'Inputs' and it shows the requested height and the actual height along with the selected height underneath i.e. 'Standard'.

Previously they were always within range but recently it's way out and driving on Edinburgh's roads and cobbles is a long way off being comfortable.

Look under EAS settings and see what you get.

Yeah they're out.

Put a different compressor in again, just to check, and that ran for a while before stopping and coming back with 'HOT' in Nanocom and not running. It was warm to the touch, but I've felt compressors being a LOT hotter than that and still running.

Checked all the connections, all seem fine. Checked the earth connection is good also.

Going to pull out the valve block and replace the driver pack and see if that makes any difference. If not, I'm kinda all out of ideas!

Will also use a tyre compressor and valves to test the lines and bags overnight me thinks. Might as well seeing as it's not really going anywhere just now!

When the temperature trip goes, you will burn your hand on the motor, it's trip temperature is 120C:eek:
The driver pack has no connection to the compressor temperature or the motor although electrical noise could I suppose could be causing something strange.
There are 2 earth connections on the inner wing.
Something doesn't add up, I'm not familiar with EAS on Nanocom or Faultmate as I use the EAS software, but it's almost as if you are misreading what is going on, no offence intended.

The only thing Nanocom knows about thermal switch is that it is either open or closed circuit. Normal closed circuit. Hot open circuit. The driver pack normally has nothing to do with the compressor circuit. Failing ones can upset ECU though.

No offense taken! I have played with it enough while things were fine to know that I'm on the correct screen though so we can rule that out :)

I can fire up the laptop and RSW software to see if anything's different tho the underlying problem would still be the same I guess? Everything was working fine before I went on holiday a few weeks back. When I returned the battery was dead. It was charged up and everything has been fine since apart from the EAS.

Tis a bummer indeed :/

As i said before go to EAS settings screen and compare stored with actual at each height.

Here's a question. If you select to deflate the bags, and the compressor is disconnected/removed should air be escaping from the compressor to block pipe?

Okie doke, ta

The same gallery is used to inflate tank and exhaust air from bags or deflate tank. The gallery is closed only by spring pressure on the diaphragm valve when air is being exhausted. Diaphragm valve is closed by air pressure from below when compressor is running, this applied by diaphragm solenoid valve which is powered from the compressor relay. When compressor stops power is cut from diaphragm solenoid valve the air holding the valve closed is vented via the 4 mm vent pipe into the harness and high pressure air from the gallery is vented past diaphragm valve to atmosphere.

Thanks for the explanation wammers :)

So, this afternoon, I removed the valve block and replaced the driver pack just so I can potentially rule it out of any problems. I took the block out so I could check all connections and I'm satisfied that they are good.

Put the compressor back in that was in it and running yesterday... nada. Put it another, nada and it's coming up as 'HOT'. I'll be going back out with my 3rd spare and seeing what happens, along with the laptop and the RSW software, just in case it's Nanocom being weird.

I'll report back what happens, or doesn't, as the case may be. If it's still spitting the dummy, I'm gonna stick schrader valves on, inflate it manually and remove the delay timer so it can sulk in the corner.
