I have a 1959 Series 2 that has a leaky water pump. The head is the early type with a bellows type thermostat and deep housing. The water pump looks different to the replacement “9 bolt’ ones available. I see that repair kits are sold - will one of these fit my pump? The leak seems to be from the centre bearing.
I would be grateful fo any advice or information. Many Thanks

There are two types. A nine bolt and I think (not sure) an eight bolt.

I know mine is the later one but both are available.

Standard on later vehicles, something like 62 on, is nine bolt, military is seven bolt and the early ones (58-62?) are indeed eight bolt. Based on my experience, I believe that it's almost impossible to find a new pump and a rebuild is the only way. I managed to find a rebuilt unit for mine as one of the lugs was broken on my original unit.
I am no expert on the topic and I am sure that someone will correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks guys, looks like mine is the 8 bolt type. As per my original question, does anyone know if the rebuild kits for the later ones will fit? It’s only a shaft, seal and bearing so if the dimensions are the same it should work regardless of the shape of the housing or number of bolts. I guess I might have to just pull it off and try it.
Not sure why I’m obsessing about this as it’s not that much of a leak and there’s a ton of other stuff to do. It will just be easier to sort it now before to much else gets bolted back on.

Have you looked at 568301? Its says S2 and S2A which suggests they are the same. The spindle is ERC3978 but its not clear whether this is early and late, oddly it is 2.25 and 2.6.
