@Nodge68 thanks for the great information, new vented discs and 5mm spacers and it’s all back together and working great. Totally saved the day……Just a thought. Did you get new calipers brackets? As the solid rotor caliper bracket isn't wide enough for the vented rotors.
You can buy 5mm wheel spacers from Halfords IIRC.

being dyslexic I mistakenly read the part identification wrong and got the parts for the td4 rather than the petrol 1.8
needless to say I can’t return the parts
I am gutted as cash is really tight at the moment and now need to order the right parts
any recommendations as to the best place to buy reasonably priced parts for a 1.8 petrol and any other pit falls I should avoid …….. thanks
