Hi I have problem whit my rangerover. I have change dieselpump and after that it wont start. Its not get any diesel from the fuelpump to the ingectors. I have tryed whit 2 different pumps and its the same problem. There is also another thing. I think its any electric problem. When I change pump then I can not open the fuelcap:confused: There is a "gost" in my car now:mad:

Its not alarmed or imbolized fault.
 
Sorry mate but two questions and one suggestion for you.

Which pump are you talking about?
When you say that you can't open the fuel cap do you mean the flap or the actual cap?

It's always a good idea to put your location on here. For all you know there could be a helpful member living round the corner from you.
 
Hi sorry I mean the pump on the engine. The pump I head first was getting leak much.

On fuel side I mean the flap.

Im from sweden and here is not so many who understand the P38 on electric side. Thats why I write here and hope I can get the answer here.
 
So no fuel to the injector would suggest that the fuel shut off solenoind on the pump (FIP) is not operating. First place i would look is the fuse box under the bonnet and check for signs/smells of burning. Pay particular attention to the ignition relay and the blower relays.
As Nathan says, you need the right pump, if you used one from a BMW you will have to use the electrical part of the old P38 pump. Do a search there is a thread about this.
 
Yes its right pump and its working good on the engine I took it from. I will look the relays. If there is any problem whit fuse/relaybox can I use one from a 4.6 hse -98?

But did the pump come from a working BMW engine in a P38 or a working BMW engine in a BMW car? The electronics are not compatable.
 
Hi Its not compatible? Whats the different? I have ask Bosch and day told me I can use one from BMW.


Is it easy to cange the electronic between pumps? Its same number and year on it.

The electronics are different. You will need to do a search (not the Google search) There are several threads on the subject. With care it seems the electronic part can be swapped over.:)
 
Now I understand more why people here in sweden can not fix a P38. Ok I will change the eletronic between pump later. Right now I dont want to see the car:((((
 
I have looked on internet and what I can see there is no different between electric in the pump. I still not get any diesel from pump to injectors. All relays working and the box looks fine. How hards is it to get the air out of the fuel system?

I can tell you quite definately that more than one person on this site has found that the pump from a BMW car will not run unless the electronics on the top of the FIP are changed for the P38 version.
However if you don't want to take advice why bother to ask?:rolleyes:
 
I have change the electric on fuel pump. Now the pump in tank not working. I can not get the air out of the fuel pipe. I have change the relays and nothing work.

What can be wrong?
 
Try to test pump in the tank by connecting 12v acroos it. If it is working, you will need to fault find the supply to it. The system is self bleeding from FIP (on engine) to injectors. Make sure you have a good battery before doing any work as a battery running flat when cranking over engine can throw up extra faults.
 
I have test whit different relays and all is working. The pump in tank is no sound. The car has been parked for 3 weeks and before the pump in tank works. Can it get broken when I didnt use the car? We have tryed whit an extra fuel tank and the car will not start. What can be wrong?
if i dont get it rinning soon I will diggit down so i dont will see it anymore.
