Hi all. Just an update. I still haven't got round to fixing the landy, it's sitting on my drive. Unfortunately I can't fit a new gearbox myself and the quote to fit it is not exactly encouraging me to get it done!
I have been questioning lately what to do with it and have looked into my issue a bit more. I knew there was a leak with the clutch slave cylinder in the car and was going to replace both master and slave cylinders. The clutch biting point was very small before it froze up and I did struggle to get it in 1st gear which is also a symptom.
What I'm wondering is, if the clutch cyclinder finally gave way when I was driving, is the gearbox still knackered? When I was driving there was a grinding noise and a burnt metal smell. Will fitting a new master/slave remedy the problem or has the damage already been done to the transmission?
