It's only the rear door locks & windows that are direct from BECM.You can actually jump the door locks from the connections on the BeCM. That's how I found out my two rear doors were buggered from the swimming incident

Good afternoon, I see now what you're saying. I'll read some more posts to troubleshoot other possible causes. I sent Martnz shop an email about 8m (UK TIME) yesterday regarding the door latch and switch pack but haven't got a reply yet. If possible could you make a call to him to find out if the latch with the red clip will work.I'm on my phone but will look later. Breakers = scrap yard. MGF will have to be the same year.
If I can tell which plastic part you need someone might have a spare in their shed. I had some duff ones at one stage that I was saving for Marty to refurbish but I cannot remember what year they were.

OK, I was getting ready to post this reply when I found some alternatives:
Is anyone familiar with the breaker cn4x4ssss? I found a used latch that looks like it will work and a switch pack for $184.00
I also found on rimmers a latch for the MG FOR $51,00 and the same latch on Rimmers search for p38 latch for $181.00.
Lastly, I found da latch on Best_of_British_rover for $64.00.

I found some alternatives:As said before, it must be the version with three microswitches. The main connector will have 6 pins like these.
Brand New - check with Rimmers on postage to Michigan

found some alternatives:he MGF lock
I don't know about the MGF lock, but any year of P38 lock can be used, just the connectors may have to be swapped over.
Rimmers surprisingly looks like the best price.found some alternatives:

They have 2 prices one for the MG Latch $51.00 and one for the P38 latch $181.00. Both have the exact part number. So I'm going to go withe cheaper one. Lastly, the small plug looks like it has 2 wires mine just has the 1 black wire. Is that okay?Rimmers surprisingly looks like the best price.
My mistake, they have a different part number. Off by 1 number. They have 2 prices one for the MG Latch $51.00 and one for the P38 latch $181.00. Both have the exact part number. You may have to cut the connectors off and use the connector from your old lock. Just had to do that on mine, the wire colours should match. I just purchased both items from cn4x4sss, a breaker in the UK. The latch was for my year P38 and cost £45.00. The switch pack was £100.00. I wanted to get refurbished from Martnz UT I haven't got an email response. By the way Rimmer Brothers has Genuine MG Rover Front door-LH, Driver for £160.00 but wasn't sure if I should buy it. I asked Data but made mistake when I said they had an exact part number under MG for £51.00. Rimmers lists a Genuine Range Rover latch for $305.00 us dollars. What's your opinion? It's so long since I had mine out I cannot remember what they looked like but I seem to recall maybe the RHS had a green clip and the LHS had a red clip. Whether that's the same in the States I don't know. The driver's side had 3 microswitches and 2 plugs, the smaller one of which was a single black wire for the earth.
I'm not really sure what Marty is up to these days. He went to NZ just as the pandemic kicked off and I haven't heard from him since. Might have been savaged by one of those big parrots, I guess.
The description said it is. It looked the same, but a little difficult to confirm the small plug only had 1 black wire like mine. I only seen 1 pin, which would be exactly like mine, but I'll find out September 29th when it arrives. I needed the switch pack and the latch was £45.00 so I just bought both. Fingers crossed! Is the lock you ar getting LHD?
Not sure the bits are the same?
J
LHD and RHD locks are not the same. Either may come with one or two connectors, early cars have two, later cars have one, but the locks are the same and the connectors can be cut off and the correct connector(s) from the old lock soldered on with heat shrink protection of the joints, I have just done this on my RHD P38. I still have to do the micro switches on my LHD but waiting for the switches to arrive. The description said it is. Duly Noted!! I've never soldered before, so it will be interesting. While I'm waiting on the parts it's a good time to make other repairs (Inside Bonnet Release and it's sticky latches) and forum research.LHD and RHD locks are not the same.
