can any body enlighten me on what this problem might be range rover put into drive does not move select gear 1 and pulls away you can then select back to drive or gear2 etc ?????? is the gear box f##ked oh and when you stop you have to select gear 1 again thanks

done any checks on the gearbox, ATF levels etc?

no its not mine just maybe as project to buy and fix but not sure what it could be???

well autos are pretty much goverened by the servicing and use. Servicing and maintainance really only involves checking levels and ensureing ATF changes happen when they should.Use is out of your hands, if his dragged a building down with it, not much ya can do about that.

as datatek said its will be the first overun clutch (sprag clutch)you come to from front of box not to difficult with instrution or instruction to do for copmetent diy,doesnt require whole box stripping,and symptoms would suggest clutches okay ,there are nearly allways good or bad, once removed clutch can be tested between by hand the two halves will rotate opposite ean other one way, the other should be imediate lock any movement before locking can sometimes be cured by immersion/cleaning in paraffin etc should lock instantly then if not replacement
