I saw 7 pages and thought that was a lot of talk about bodging up half arsed trailling arms ready to brake and kill a bus load of nuns.........should have known it wasnt:D
Johnlad seems a nice old boy for a northerner

So it can be done but will result in a ****e load of dead nuns and a war between Somerset and Blackpool. Best buy some from Glynn Lewis then. Cheers. As u were fellas

Was it not a company called Tarantula 4x4 who used to use a standard arm with some angle iron welded on, and wasnt there a story on here about how it broke?

Im sure the iron was welded on and it just broke at the joint? :(

There's probably a link here somewhere.

Yeah I discussed the bent/cut and welded option with my mate who has a fabrication shop. He said the issue wouldn't be the welding been the weak point but what was either side of the weld. Ill just buy some proper ones when I've got the money just thought if I could save some coin I would but I ain't risking an accident for sake of a few quid

Calm down lads!

If you double crank the standard arms are you not making them shorter?

@ Pressbrake, do you have any pics of your double cranked trailing arms? I was looking at the adrenaline ones, but now you've mentioned yours I've gotta see 'em! In what way do they not fit standard? Do you mean the vehicle needs to be lifted?

true by shortening them your mucking up pinion angles, shock angles etc and making rear steer worse.
Got some pics on my home pc will post later

but shirley, if you cut part way through the opposite sides to the bend,
either fillet weld or weld in a wedge, it then makes the arms a tad longer again,
providing, the trueness of the arm remains it original integrity..
a length of correct size box section pre bent to suit the now bent arm could then be slit lengthways,
then welded to the arm along is longitudinal sides.
just a though here though,
as I`ve never done one..

but have built F2/super stock cars with "plenty" Ironing up and box sectional welding in my previous life!
