Ansum job.....where did you 'aquire' that?

All sourced off the bay, quite reasonable really. Can't imagine it's storm proof, but will provide ample respite from the Moroccan sun or Dartmoor showers (snigger). Beauty being it will fit any aspect of the roof rack even the rear, ideal for cooking I guess. Just need to fix the clutch now.

I have a standard front bumper which is scabby and beyond repair. I have a couple of options, original part or tubular winch bumper. Anyroad, I'm surfing t'web when I spot this chop job...is this kosher?

FFS, image to follow  here

Anyway, I have little enthusiasm to fit a winch, so what are the other options?

50 nuggets is a good price for a standard bumper. I currently have an A bar fitted with spots and although I like the tubular winch bumpers they stick out a fair bit. Without too many modifications i.e. checker plate etc, I might stick with standard. Just interested to see that sawn-off thin on Ebag.

I have a similar one to the dixon close fit ones, it does require cutting of the grill area if a winch is fitted. but fits nice and tight.

Cheers

Like the one attached? I have a steering guard fitted, but no attachment for D rings which is why I'm seeking new direction. As I said I have no interest in winching, I would like somewhere to attach if I need hauling out of some sticky stuff.

That’s a really lovely looking 110, I’d be keeping a standard bumper on that.

Love the look of the shelter thingy too.

I am trying to keep as stock as possible - I really must pop a more recent picture up. Jobs currently outstanding are replacing the front passenger seat now the runner is repaired, new door seal and new passenger side seat bely where it has been constantly slammed in the door mechanism. WRT to the shelter thingy, I'm not sure what use I'll ever get any use out of it and now I have shifted the roof rack I need to fabricate something to anchor it to.

Has anyone seen these before, I didn't think anything of it until I started searching for seat risers. I wonder if they are a previous owner bodge or whether they are a part? These may have contributed to the failure of the old seat runner which split at the fixing point?

Replaced the to Weller alloys and Cooper STT tyres with Modulars & Maxxis Bravo tyres security fixings. All-in-all it cost nothing as the new wheel package was only £200 for the 5 Modulars, brand new tyres and the seller threw in 5 locking wheel nuts. The road manners are very good, remarkably they didn't fail in the snow, I don't play in the mud at the moment so I'm not concerned.

This is the issue with the bumper - It isn't worth grinding it back, filling and painting as the metal has worth thin. So ocne I've decided which way to go, I'll order a new bumper and captive fixings.

WRT a new bumper I have come across this one which has the tow pin. I'm guessing it's heavier duty than the cheaper 3mm options available, and as I have no towing attachments on my steering guard, this kinda offsets that?

Next issue - rear offside passenger door weather strip. Has anyone replaced one of these, know the part number, and is it any easy fit without having to strip the door etc. The door is in good order, it appears the metal in the existing seal has rusted away which has unseated the thing, looks untidy.

Right this Thursday the rusty crossmember gets cut away. The part is on order, the exhaust, anti roll bar, fuel tank etc have been removed in anticipation. The only real concern I have going into this unpleasant task is the wiring harness threaded through one of the rails. I have done some internet surfing and I cannot find idiot info on which chassis rail the loom is in, how to unplug it at the engine end, and how to rethread it with a draw wire. Might all sound noddy to a seasoned land rover owner, but this major work for a nugget of my ilk. Any help or advice welcomed. For those laughing internally, the unions on the fuel tank return and the fuel sender all snapped during dismantling as they were probably original, so now I need a new sender and some new compression unions.

She’s due an MOT this afternoon and during a shakedown the wipers only work on standard speed, no fast or intermittent. I think the relay is ballsed as it can be heard clicking in the fast position. Will this cause a fail, or by dint it has single speed will it be okay? I can probably get a relay at a push but would like to explore the programmable relay if I had more time, plus local supplier will charge like a rhino...thoughts?

As long as the wipers work should be no worries. Don't need to test speeds.

Cheers, whackamole with the Defender again. So yesterday I shake down all the electrics without issue. Today I do similar prior to test and I have no headlights or main beam. MOT man checks the thing over only fail no headlights. He claims the switch has failed, still provide sidelights and fogs but no headlights. Just spent an hour checking over everything and I'm at a loss...anyone offer any advice, the switch looks okay?

I have now lost the sidelights on the drivers side whilst prodding and poking around, I'm losing patience with this thing and I'm supposed to be supporting a charity event with it at the weekend.

Sounds as though could be a poor earth if you then lost sides aswell after a tinker?
