If I can piggy back on this (no pun intended)... Our favorite Vermont parts dealer has these very neat hand workable screws for anchoring the tops to the door without tools. Nice items, but $50US (L25 or so) seems a tad steep for 4 nuts.
Does anyone know the exact size and pitch of the threads on the part mentioned by piggies?

I have just replaced both door tops, the screws came with the spacers and channels i ordered but are just self tappers about 1/2" long either galvanised or stainless(original), countersunk for all except the front sloping aluminium reytainer which ideallly should be roundhead. I drilled a 2.5mm hole in frame for a tight fit. if you need a bargain door top theres some on ebay

get Rocky mountain door tops (the last ones you'll ever buy) all aluminium and s/steel rods will never rot or rust again and the front window opens as well as the back when you sell the landy on, take them off and put them on your new one (don't forget to keep your old ones to swap over)
