Hi, the door bottoms could do with sorting on my 110 front doors, I know I can buy the repair sections from YRM and wondered if anyone could tell me if they've had theirs repaired at a garage and what to expect to pay?
And will the door skin need repainting afterwards?

Not sure how much a garage would charge, but I suspect it would be quite a bit.

Are you any good with a welder? I did my rear door this past weekend. Took about a day. Bought the repair pieces from SP 4x4 (SP landrovers LTD - Body panel Specialists). I researched the procedure on this forum as well as others and then set about the project with no previous experience. I didn't find it too complicated and will set about doing the front doors this weekend. Skin was easily peeled away and then replaced without any damage. Have a look at the before and after pictures below.

Your work looks fantastic! I'd be happy if mine ended up like that but I've never welded and wouldn't be confident just having a go! Mechanical stuff I'm happy to try at (with my mechanic mate to using over watch!) but I'd worry I'd ruin bodywork!

You could do the donkey work,peeling the skin back,removing the crudy bits,cleaning up and getting new parts ready to weld in then take to a local welder. Well worth learning in the long run,look up Mig welding forum lots of good info.

I am sure I will get some incredulous comments from respected lz veterans, but my local landy bloke said it would be approx £300 per door, drive in, drive out.

I contemplated buying new, but after adding in effort of transferring the moving parts, possibly replacing channels and painting them (bearing in mind the rest of the truck is faded), I decided the price is OK for the effort involved. I have known him for 20 years so I don't begrudge funding the upkeep of his wife & 4 kids .

Agree with all of the above. It's a bit of a fiddly and time consuming job and with labour costs as they are it might get up to £300 a door. Does seem a little expensive.
On the other hand, as has already been said, some small pry bars (£15 a set) a hacksaw and some of your time. The skins peel back easily with the pry bars. Saw out the affected section and take it to get the new sections welded in. The welding costs should be minimal. Fold the skin seam back. Apply plenty Dinitrol

I've never welded anything before, welded my doors up with a crappy welder. Not pretty, but put a grinder on it and it looks fine after paint. Not a structural part
