Is there any such thing as a good P38? Some are less bad than others, but good?

Beet me too it
The thing with p38,s is a lot of the time you will spend money repairing a fault and then a few months later you will be repairing the same damned thing again.
Great car when working well.

Lets face it we all like Rangie's for one reason or another, we all would probably have a brand new one on the drive, if we had the money to run/waste on one.
I think her name was Andrealouise or something like that....A lot of the problem is people go out and buy a 60,000+ pound vehicle thats 12 years old for 1700+ pounds, but expect it to have full dealer service history and be fully reliable.
There a few who fall on their feet and get a true bargain, I can't remember her name now but the girl who bought the V8 HSE to tow her horse box with suspenion problems and no MOT in the Bedford area, she got it sorted for about 500 quid after paying about 800/900 for it if I remember correctly?.
But most buy a "Cheap Posh Motor" and then find out the engine has slipped liners, a cracked head or a blown auto box and are facing a repair bill for more than they paid for the vehicle. They find us here for a shoulder to cry on and help out.
If you want a simple to fix landy, buy a series or an early classic Rangie (note: I said simple I didn't say cheap).

Only by 4 1/2 hours.............:behindsofa:
Not if you repair it properly the first time you won't.
**** parts!
Doesn't matter if you repair it properly on not!
So many design faults and crap parts on a great car!
Not me, I have one because they are cheap to buy and the info is available to fix them. There is no other car I've owned where I've felt the need to carry diagnostics with me at all times. When I win the lotto it will be gone in a flash

All of us except Datatek, who thinks all Range Rovers are poo and he only has one cos they're cheap poo....
EDIT: his reply beat me to it!
Data, you'd still be here your part of the furiture, plus what other vehicles would would give you friends all over the world, keep you brain active and give you the only reason to spend hours of fun on the internet.....
I agree that it gives me something to think about, if I didn't have the P38 I could go back to some useful money earning design work
Yep, that was her name. The vehicle was purchased and repaired with our help cheaply, even Datatek spent time chatting her up on the phone.....(see friends again)...
...
I did Must be getting very old as I don't remember that
Thanks Saint - Have had a lovely conversation with Datatek and it would seem that we have a broken wire and a bad air leak. I've orderd Gen II Arnotts and will spend next weekend fitting them and then testing the system. Fingers crossed all will work as I've sold my trusty disco today
Blimey, I am truly old:jaw:Opps!!!
