£400 isn't such a bad price IF they do inside the chassis and the bulkhead PROPERLY
anyone can spend £50 on one of those hand spray kits and coat the chassis with it VERY thinly - but within a few months you'll be able to see through it again, remembering that your depender chassis will rust from the inside to out
best time to do it is during the summer - ideally steam clean everywhere, or jet wash - allow a few days for it to dry then start spraying through every hole in the chassis until it starts coming out of the nearest hole - then start blocking holes to prevent it coming out but keep on spraying, too much is way better than too little - you could easily use £150 worth of oil just inside the chassis
a tend to put at least 3 coats on externally - this allows it to thin throughout the year due to wear and tear followed by a single thick maintenance coat once a year
also don't forget to get it up the bulkhead legs either by passing the extension tube up from the mounting or by drilling holes for access (these can be neatly capped off with blind grommets) - also drill a hole in the sloped section of the bulkhead (from inside) and zap as much as you want in there this will prevent the usual depender bulkhead rot under the windows - sealing off the base of the door pillar while your filling is a good plan
it's a messy job, wear eye protection and park on a large disposable plastic tarp as they'll be lots of drips

Bloody hell thats a rip off, will he be wearing golden gloves whilst he's doing it? I know a garage that will steam clean and waxoil the entire under side of a vehicle for £60 cash, no questions asked. I can pass on their details if you like. They're in West Yorkshire mind
