I've just bought a set of 16 inch alloys with 235 60 16 will I need spacers ?

The guy I've bought them off said he had them on his 2004 freelander with 5mm spacers, but said I may not need them ?

Any ideas.

You will need spacers, they'll be too wide.

Might have my H&R's available if you're interested

I'd try them first. They may clear. 235 is a standard width they're just a bit taller so may go on ok. 235/70/16 with offset modulars and you can still get your hand in the gap.

Cheers dude where will they catch if they do ? I assume the top of the tyre will catch ?

235 section tyres should clear the front suspension spring cups with around 7mm to spare.

However if they have a very aggressive tread with big lugs at the edge you might need a 5mm spacer.

Simple aluminium ones will do as there is enough stud length to fit them without reducing safety.

I had 235 section tyres and needed to put 10mm spacers on the front and 7mm spacers on the rear only to allow me to fit 9mm chains all round.

Edit: Full lock has nothing to do with it - it's the clearance between the tread edge and the spring-cup that is the potential problem.

Pretty much. Drive it round in circles and listen for noises. Then check for marks in the arches. Obviously check they spin by hand first;)

Where's the best place to get spacers from ? Will I just need 5mm front and rear

not sure what year your motor is , but when i replaced my wheels with what i thought were identical wheels, i found they were catching on the rear drums,(slightly different inner casting) , had to get some 7 mm spacers from ebay £15

Mines a 2006 the wheels I've bought are off a 2004 but the had 5mm spacers on.

Are you sure the wheels are originally from a facelift? As if not you'll definitely need spacers as the previous owner of them had

I'm not sure all I know is they are off a 2004 with 5mm spacers but the guy said they may fit mine without so I assume they are off a facelift.

If not ill just get spacers
