so your telling me that they ALL STRICTLY ADHERE to the book mmmmm how come my van fail on an obtruction in the windscreen (sticker in the passenger side mind detailing what the window was for )and he had it put in for me while it was there for the mot and a tyre that was supposedly below min depth 2mm (1.6mm) min across central 3/4 i must have t t across my fore head

If you're not happy ask to see the section in the manual that he's failed it on. They have to have the manual and they have to show it to you when requested.

Sticker isn't a problem as you just remove it in front of him and he's then required to do a free retest. Did you check the tyre depth yourself inorder to dispute his measurement. Though to be honest taking a vehicle in with a tyre that close to been bald is a no-brainer really..
 
Ive got a sticker in the a zone but only got an advisory cos its a sticke and removeble.Havent done it yet tho...
 
as for the sticker he was just being a total pr k , the tyre was legal just over 2mm my fault yes but it was still legal . so kindly tell me where it should of failed . mot inspectors as i said law unto them selves
 
sod it while im in a good mood how cum i had brake shoes changed as they failed mot then the cheeky get turned round and failed it again for the bearings rummbling after HE had disturbed them mind dont figure

Then you should of asked him to produce the manual and remeasure the tyre in front of you. and photographed the measurement "For my appeal"! I'm sure he would have changed his tune very quickly.

Cos he put yer window in is he supposed to take the sicker off too?If the window was overly dirty and reduced yer veiw of the road would you want him to wash yer motor too?

The tyre should have been a 'pass advise'. As for the sticker he was right but being very pedantic. :D

Noisy bearings are another 'pass advise' unless there's excessive free play.
He's in the wrong here and taking the **** big time.
 
what i should do next is stick the test fee to the windscreen then we'll see if he fails it .. as for the bearing he done the brakes so he should of rectified the fault he caused it would be easier to take it for test at a vosa centre at least they go buy the book and if it fails you know there straight with it not ripping you off

The re-test only applies in certain circumstances (normally minor items), if it's a more major item and left the premises they are required to complete a full test but can for marketing purposes charge a reduced fee (could be free if they want).

Aye but he said the guy did all the work after he'd failed it. So he can only test the items he failed it on.
 
The easy way to explain your MOT situation is..............
By MOT law if its not fitted it cant be tested which a pass with an advise

Hence why becky was becky saying day time MOT's dont exist its the same MOT as any vehicle would take.

A car can also pass an MOT with no number plates because its done on the vin number but the police law states they have to be fitted to the vehicle :D

not true if it's legally required and it's not fitted then it's an "unable to test" and it doesn't get an mot. Eg if you remove the drivers seatbelt it's a fail because it's a legal requirement to have one. So it gets a not able to test and a refusal to issue a mot certificate
