Hi all,
new to this site.
I have a lock out code on the dash display and engine immobilizer,
seems the memory between the key / car and the ecu seems to have been lost,
will this gadget sort a lock out code out and get it started again,

Range Rover P38 2.5 TD 94-02 Engine Immobiliser ECU Reset Tool - BECM Sync Mate,
need to get it sorted fast as possible without shelling out mega money at the garage, i have a january 1996 rangerover p38 2.5td with the bmw engine,
many thanks in advance.
pete.

Hmmmm.....sounds like the Key to Car sync is out rather than BeCM to Engine ECU sync.

Do you have your EKA (Emergency Key Access) code to hand??

You will need this and it is entered in to the car via key turns in the door lock barrel...

What has happened is the car has been unlocked but the BeCM hasn't recognised that a valid key was used.

The key transmits a code to the car, the car checks this and if it is correct it will unlock and allow the engine to be started....if the car was superlocked and then unlocked via the door lock barrel, the code hasn't been sent and as such the car needs to know if a valid key has been used or indeed the right vehicle owner has accessed the car...this is done by entering the EKA code into the door lock so the BeCM will allow the car to be started....

If you don't have the EKA code, go to your local main dealer with proof of ownership and ask for it! (providing the BeCM hasn't been changed in its life)

Mmm key code lock out usually occurs when the EKA code has been entered wrongly three times. You will have to wait thirty minutes before it clears then you can try again. If you open and close the drivers door after you have entered the code twice then you will not get this lock out. If you are entering the EKA code, do you get the side light warning light on the dash flash for each turn of the key. If you do then the code is going to the BECM. Check this and hopefully Mozz will be out of bed soon.

Hi thanks for the reply,i will try give you an idea when it all went wrong, parked car up in street, for 3 weeks battery was a good new bosh one 2 yers ago, it has never died out on us before, so i came to use it flat batt, jump started it no probs, run all weekend done over a 100 miles so batt recharged full, then parked back up in the street, in the mean time i sold the front seats out of it as was changing from grey to cream, so off they went, car stood for another 2 weeks maybe 3 without seats, fitted new ones in electric by the way same as the grey, went to start it then got the message key code lock out and engine immobilizer showing too, so we done the eka door code but the lock was almost seized so could hardly turn key, so sprayed with wd40 into the barrel and turned it and sprayed it until it was free and opening the button inside the car, and still no joy even with ak code reset with the key, left 30 mins a couple of time or 6 still nothing except lock out, no one at the local land rover garage is interested as it is a 1996 car they said from this year it was a pig to fix,i understand it could be something wrong with the key barrel or its mechanism, but before stripping that out thought i would ask here, or if anyone has one of these becm booters they sell on ebay that lives in coventry that would be kind enough to come and plug it in, as they are £140+ on ebay and i dont mind paying that if it does the trick but dont want to buy it and find i just wasted £140, thing is also i have a disabled son and he lives in another town 10 miles form me and if we get any bad snowy weather they are predicting this winter i will need the rangie back on the road as my other car is a little astra not up for deep snow and icy roads, more so if i get stranded with my disabled son in the car that is my biggest concern, so any other suggestions are very welcome, and many thanks for the 2 i have just recieved thanks guys.

Flat battery could be an R/F receiver problem, mind you 3 weeks was the most I could expect my battery to stay charged. Try a PM to mozz smith, he usually has all the answers.:)
