I had my TD5 die after deep some ambitious deep water wading. I put the main engine ECU on the radiator for a couple of days and all was back to normal..!

What were the symptoms of yours after your U-boat impersonation?

Surely its worth trying to dry it out first, dry muddy water would "look like" corrosion on a PCB board which incidently is protected with the usual "varnish" over the PCB circuits.

I would def make sure you get your old one back and try it.

Try washing ( yeah I know) it in de-ionised water and a fine paint brush to remove any crud. Then flooding it in dewaterising agent and then allowing it to dry for 3-5 days on a household radiator.

Works wonders on PC boards .

Panzer: have you relocated electrics and stuff, cos your pic shows your D2 in deep water!

How are you managing that safely?

MIL light came on half way though the ford.
No power, engine failing, Chugging on exit and only just pulling though
RAC man sucking his teeth, saying never seen a car get though there when it's as deep!
Slight dampness in the air filter, but not enough to warrant a hydrolock situation. (no snorkel on my TD5)
Scrambled garbage from ODBC port when RAC man tried to plug in.

it was 'Hall Green' ford (dont trust the depth marker there!):www.wetroads.co.ukhttp://www.wetroads.co.uk/dp.php?HallGreen1
