This may not help but I have had severe problems with my Discovery 2 TD5 Auto in that the key fob fails to 'talk to' the car leaving me standing out in the cold. This happens in a very unpredictable way and has made the very totally unreliable.
(I have been driving Land Rovers for 25+ years and it grieves me to say this!)
Once the system fails I get no response from the car at all.
The manual input of the cka code (so many turns to left and right etc, I may have got the name wrong.) fails to clear it. At present my Discovery is parked up and unusable.
I am getting some advice from those who know more than I do about the problem that there seems to be a link between wifi signal frequency and the frequency used by the key fob. I am told that Range Rover and Jaguar have all been affected in a similar way.
As yet I have not found a fix - so any assistance would be very welcome.
As I find more information I will post it on the forum.

Hi mate had a simalier problem with my td5 a while back the AA man put it down to Radio interferance because i was parked about 5 meters away from 2 cop cars my key wouldn,t let me in after a bit of farting about we pushed it about 60 feet away from the cop cars (luckerly i was in a car park) then tried using the button on the key and it worked!! Couldn't belive it so from then on i try and stay well clear of them!

There was a recall I believe by LR to replace alarm ecu's on early D2's as soon as the problem with interferance was found. Speek to you dealer an see if its your model. RR P38 had a recall as well same alarm.

i had the very same trouble with my TD5, turned out to be the receiver in the roof lining, infront of the rear sunroof. all caused by a sunroof leak.

did you do this yourself-think thats my problem.
if so was it an easy swap?
cheers

I thought the reciever on a TD5 was the round black thingy centre top of the dash near the windscreen. Is there one in the rear headlining ?

dont think so...i dont have a round black thingy!! isnt that a temp sensor or something for higher spec models?

anyway took the one by the rear sunroof out last night-soaking wet-as is the whole roof above the headlining. think im goin to weld the sunroof shut!
new sensor/receiver on order-will let you know what happens tomorrow!

hi
i had same problem , changed the fob battery though it would work but no joy , disconnected main battery as was told will reset still no joy . spoke to local l/r garage and they wanted £65 for half hr on machine to find fault , after some fiddling with the remote sensor found dirty earth in multi plug . seems to be working now . will post again if it stops

hi, i doubt that this would help the OP after more than 7 years ;) ... tell to whom told you that disconnecting battery will "reset" alarm on a D2 that it's boll*x
