Hi All,
I accidently left the hazard lights on my 1995 discovery series 1 ES 3.9litre v8 and as such the battery went dead. I tried to jump it earlier and as soon as I connected it the alarm sounded. I have tried fob to turn it off and keys in the ignition but the alarm keeps soundinh.I have read that the siren can be disconnected, can anyone advise im not great at this type of things so the more idiot proof the better if possible!
Will disconnecting the siren affect the e horn or are they totalling separate? ( they do sound the same!)

Thanks for your help in advance!

A single button system? if so you don't have a siren but an addition horn that's why it sounds the same. It can be disconnect, but if you have an alarm condition the indicators will still flash.

Yes, its the one button type, if it doesn't have a siren then I guess I can just disconnect the horn and it wont sound. I realise that the alarm will still be "sounding" but it at least I don't have the pressure of the horn going disturbing neighbours etc whilst I try to sort that issue out!

Also using a key in the drivers door lock sets and unsets the alarm. Give it a try as u don't need a fob with your system.

Not true unlocking the door without using the fob will set off the alarm and immobiliser

Well I've had 4 D1's and on every one of them if you just unlock the door with the key, and climb in the alarm goes off.

Four D1s with a problems, hard luck, why did you have to climb in for the alarm to sound? as you must know you don't need a fob with the early single button security systems with it's active ingine immobilision..

Well all I can say is once the alarm was armed only the fob would disarm it on all 4 of em. didn't matter wether you used key or fob to arm the system.
