my discovery 1 is leaking water through the back speaker on both sides so i sealed the rain gutter with silicone and it sorted it on one side but it is still leaking through the other side its driving me mad keeps my carpet wet all the time i was wondering if any body knew other places they leak from all the window seals look good but not sure ive had the panels off on the inside but there is no obvious place its coming from ?????????

Could be any of the spare wheel mounts bolts or the wiper arm. Basicly anywhere there could be a hole in the door.

Edit ive miss read the op.as been said check the alpine windows

Or anywhere theres a seal.... ive just done my rear sunroof, i siliconed around the outer seal even tho its not perished and looked good but it cured the leak.

rear light clusters, thats where mine was leaking from, also check the grommets for any towing leccy bits are there. I had one missing and spray from road was getting in.

great cheers guys its the top rear speaker its coming in not rear door sub woofers so im guessing it has to be above those speakers to be coming through those speakers

You could either re-seal the alpine lights in the roof (likely cause) or buy waterproof speakers:D:D

On a more serious note I would strongly advise you to remove the rear carpet and rubber sponge mat - which I suspect you will find sopping wet!!!

This is what causes the Disco boot floors to rot out. Check for rust/holes in the boot floor, repair if required, put in a sheet of plywood so it leaves a air gap and replace the now dry carpet.

Store the rubber mat in the rubbish bin !!!!!!!

You will notice no difference in noise levels or comfort with the rubber sponge mat

i have had a new floor in it recently and the carpet and sponge mat are dry at the minute after 2 weeks dying out last month the rest of the back is solid after fiberglassing a few holes from a smack last year

If it was leaking in through the door handles could it be handles water music?

Sorry. Couldn't help it.

I had the exact same problem and after suspecting the rain gutters i also sealed which seemed to fix the problem.....but not for long. I soon found that the leak was still occurring and so i investigated further by removing the inner side lining panels. I then traced the leak by noticing that the dust that had settled on the alpine windows was slightly different colours and there was very slight drip marks that were not immediately obvious. I have since found that it was the alpine window seals that were leaking and im just waiting for a dry day to re-seal. Hope that you find where your leak is coming from, i strongly suspect it is the same place.

the alpines also leak into the reinforcing box section where the roof joins the sides, and rots out the sides. just below the rain gutters on both rear sides. Always a good idea to keep an eye out there as the outer skin is ally and so doesn't show the rot untill it's too late. My old green disco had rotted on both sides from rear corner to just above the rear passenger windows. (3 door)

no need to worry about water coming in through the speakers after my little swim last night haha, o well it might make me pull the carpets out to find the next 3 months of welding
