Went off roading last weekend at Hill 'n' Ditch (was quite excellent) but half way over a bumpy bit I heard a knock and then it kept knocking. On closer inspection I have noticed that what I think is the anti roll bar has become detatched from the suspension. I hjave attached photo's as I am not the best with mechanics.

How can I fix this and is it difficult or expensive?

You just need unbolt the broken linkage from the end of the anti roll bar, unbolt the ball that's still on the axle then fit a new linkage. Dead easy, about 10 minutes and the new part should be a few quid. (Can't remember how much exactly from when I swapped mine but it wasn't a great deal)
 
Great - Not an expensive job then. Been able to get one from Landranger services in Middlewich (I can just pick it up from there today)

Think I will soak the bolts on WD-40 while I use the wifes car to go and pick up the bit!

Damn! Just noticed the problem is a whole lot worse than I first though. The spring (fitted by LRC last Thursday) has totally come out of the top housing and is resting against the tyre (which it has shredded) Think it will have to go back to them!

Off with the wheel and a clout with a club hammer iand t may pop back in or you can do it the proper way and compress the spring first.
Cable ties can be used to keep the spring in place and stop it from happening again I believe.
 
Thanks, but just gonna leacve it to the garage as they fitted it in the first place and it has ruined the inside of the tyre! This one spring was replaced as the other on had dropped, and when they fitted the others about a omnths ago they said they had to modify the tops, maybe they didnt modify the top of this one when they replaced it?

either buy some dislocation cones or just put some jubilee clips round tthe top housing and the spring to stop this happening again
 
springs pop out all the time under extreme axle twisting and it's no coincidence that you broke your roll bar as well..!

I wouldnt be too quick to blame the garage... get some dissy cones or use jubilee clips of you're gonna be doing loads of pay and play sites

Could you post a picture of that or be a bit more specific I had a look under my arches and couldnt quite work out what you meant

around the top of the spring and the top spring mount, the spring is held there just by the weight of the car, if you twist the axle they will seperate, and not always go back correctly, as what happend here..
 
thanx for the relpy - i meant i couldnt understand where you meant to put the jubilee clip what to fasten together
