Hi all I'm Tony I'm a newbie here ! , I have a discovery 4 3.0l sdv6 GS and the suspension fault.is constantly showing on screen , I've changed the front valve block for some reason hoping that was it but still there ,pulled fuse last night left and the only strut that showed any difference this morning was the front passenger one by half a centimetre that was it surely not enough to show fault , has anyone else had this problem no fault codes showing at all just says suspension fault every time i start car and constant but still raises and drives fine any help appreciated please ,would it be worth changing the rear valve block also or not is there a possibility it could be that one ? Thanks for your help in advance ,Tony ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi Tony
You really need to scan it with a decent diag what did you use ?? just changing parts in the hope of fixing it will prove expensive.

It could be something as simple as a weak battery, not uncommon for what you have

Hi thanks for replying, I'm not getting any codes coming up at all nothing stored nothing showing ? ,I'm using Delphi scanner running 2022 software but not getting anything ? I've just raised it till morning and pulled fuse measured height to see if any drop tomorrow but can't get any codes ๐Ÿ˜•

Have left overnight all struts still inflated the same measurements as 7pm last night and just took measurements now the same no air escaped but as soon as.i.put fuse back in it dropped to normal height ?,will check battery current just waiting for friend to return my multimeter later today ! Could it lowering when putting fuse back in be something or is that normal ? And already changed front valve block it's pointing to compressor I believe ? Or weak battery ? We will see ๐Ÿ™‚

Do you know if the valve blocks for front are also the same for rear so they fit on front or rear ? as they are exactly the same to look at pipes and everything? ๐Ÿ™‚

Yeah that battery voltage is low have axread off this. You can try charging it up off the car to see if it improves but I suspect upon cranking its dropping drastically

Sounds to me like you have a possible height sensor problem.

Valve blocks look the same but are not, the difference between them is the two valves is the connections from the valve block to the left and right hand air spring damper modules and valve size. It is important that the correct valve block is fitted to the correct axle. Fitting the incorrect valve block will not stop the air suspension system from functioning but will result in slow raise and lower times and uneven raising and lowering between the front and rear axles.

You've not fitted a rear block to front by any chance have you?

Hi no definitely a front block I triple checked and part numbers were same haha but I was considering ordering another for back but won't now thanks , yes I think we found the problem so not sure where I go from here any way of finding out which height sensor it is ? Should I clean all connections with contact cleaner first see if that's any help or not worth it ? Thanks for your help too it is greatly appreciated as I have a disabled son of 2 years and the cars needed daily I can't be without it so need to get sorted but lost job not long ago to take care of him and mum who had difficulties giving birth and now isnt well at all either , everything always happens at once hey , appreciate your help ,Tony ๐Ÿ™‚

@gstuart hi do you have any input on my latest findings please people say you may be able to help ,thanks ๐Ÿ‘

Hiya

I would be tempted using the scanner to check the live data , as in is the compressor producing the correct pressure output, is the motor getting too hot , that can sometimes be down to blocked silica

Normally with a wiring issue m valve block etc u would get a fault code

Hereโ€™s a sheet showing what the pressure output should be

If thereโ€™s a slow leak which sometimes is hard to pin down it can burn the compressor out , at least checking thenoupu readings it wonโ€™t costs u anything

Know it can be frustrating but plse just start with the basics, let us know how u get on and plenty of us here to talk u through it step by step , main thing at the end of the day that ur not soendinf money unless thereโ€™s evidence that a part has failed or on its way out

Hope that also helps

Meant to add , if the compressor output is very low u can get rebuild kits

The breakdown of the dryer silica can create a can of worms as it can go round the entire system and into each valve block , casing them to let by

But will worry about that after we get some pressure output live data readings plse

Sorry to hear that with a lot of stress on ur shoulders , great that u came here as at least then we can try and help u resolve the issue

Indeed always the way when things seem to come along all at once but ur find this forum full of very kind and helpful people

Hi does anyone know what my ride height parameters are for my discovery 4 sdv6 GS 2011 please settings it should be set to and have found a wicked tool on eBay that does all suspension settings and adjustments and lots more for ยฃ70.

I think the fronts are 466 and rears 488mm from the centre of the wheel to the bottom of the wheel arch liners

Know thatโ€™s for the D3 and not sure if the d4 are different

Hope thatโ€™s helps

Hi I have these codes does anyone know what they mean please is the supply to sensors broken ,c1a70 pressure does not decrease when venting gallery and c1a70 rear left height sensor supply ,thanks all ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ‘
