Hi

If you have a diagnostic tool that supports live values, you should be able to watch the gallery pressure drop (exhaust valve opening) just before the air compressor starts. You can force the air compressor to start by calling for a height change. The exhaust valve vents the gallery pressure to allow the air compressor to start up more easily.

U can get rebuild kits , managed to find a link for u, that’s if it’s an AMK and not a hitachi or Dunlop, but of course need to ensure voltage is getting to the exhaust valve before changing anything

Need to also ensure the dryer silica hasn’t blocked up the internal filters or material

Ref C1A70, plse check the wires and connector pins at that height sensor to ensure there’s no breaks or dirty contacts

Hopefully the code reader via live data would give u the supply voltage

Hope that helps u

Meant to add if u want wiring diagrams etc plse let me and will find some for u , as then ur be able to see what colour wires do what on each height sensor , compressor etc

Out of curiosity where abouts are u plse as never know someone might be near u if u get really stuck

Hi I'm in speke Liverpool L24, I could do with wiring diagrams if it's no trouble that would be excellent 👌 amazing thanks ,I've got the compressor case off and the brackets so corroded it's split piece missing too video attached and photo of details on compressor all that's on it if you know what type of compress it is from the details that would be a great help so I know which exact fixings kit I'd need ,thanks very much for all your help were very grateful!

Ur so welcome and always a team effort

Plus 1 to the compressor and bracket that’s @biketeacherdave shared , just realised u have an early d4 which had the hitachi , later models had the amk

Found the wiring diagrams , they are for a D3 but pretty sure there the same as the early D4’s

Ur see on the height sensors have the 5Vdc voltage in, then the signal feed back to the ECU and then the ground wire

Hope they help

Ur also need 3 x of each of the captive nuts and bolts to secure the bracket to the chassis as these are renowned to rust

Captive nuts

Bolts

Must confess when I done mine when the compressor was removed i brushed the chassis to remove any loose paint etc then gave it a few coats of dinitrol

Hope that helps

Been OK on mine for 18 months

That’s a cracking price mate , fitted a Dunlop on mine as wasn’t going to spend the £500 odd that some were asking for the genuine hitachi , think the Dunlop was around £250, plus bracket as the old rubber mounts were worn out so was cheaper buying a complete bradket with rubbers already fitted , plus of course the 3 x captive nuts and bolts

All the bolts I got including the ones to secure the casing were all stainless steel

So great to know about the one u shared for the brilliant price , thks again

No probs Gary, it's been OK for a cheapy pump plus bracket . My bracket had disintegrated.

At that price if I need a new pump every 2/3 years it's not so bad. Its a service item any ways.

Wanted to thank all of you ! 😊 Bought new Hitachi pump bracket bolts case , fitted and bye bye fault ! Then with the rear height sensor was about to change and seen the green wire corroded and snapped off , picked away at plastic as didn't and can't wait for new one soldered new into fresh clean wire deeper down ,shrink wrapped and will reconnect in bit should sort that out for now at least and all fine ,up and down she goes ! Faster than ever 😉, the new really they sent was causing the pump to stay on changed to another and it cuts off as should , been a busy day still got to reconnect this will change anyway too now , is it right I disconnected negative before unplugging sensor I won't need to bother recalibration or shall I just do it anyway , thanks all once again family's grateful as can get our special little man to his appointments again ,if can ever help in any way just message I be glad to , best wishes Tony and family 🙂

Hi all uh oh the susoension faults is showing again now replaced back left sensor and compressor compressor fault went rear sensor fault went ,bit showing again today ,pictures attached of diagnostics what else could possibly be causing this anyone know ? What should I try next ,considering it went after changing compressor and now it's back ,relay changed too all was fine .thanks all Tony 🙂

I’ve had issues like this using the cheap Chinese pumps.
I had 3 over a 2 month period before ditching them an buying a genuine pump.

Hi all so it came back again the only time it works is when I remove this pipe is this the exhaust line ? If not why would it only work when I remove this ? Thanks all

Hi

I wonder if the silencer is blocked , full of water , line kicked , found a picture of the set up

Number 5, The bottom pipe goes to the air filter inlet which sits inside the side boot locker, number 4 is of course ur exhaust pipe you’ve pulled off

If it’s fine with it disconnected would ensure none of the lines are kinked, blocked or full of water

As the pipe you’ve removed has kinked u may have to cut that off and put a coupling there , if it’s tight use a long piece and do a loop , that will then prevent kinking of the pipe in tight spaces

The silencer is tucked up high and have to normally removed the spare wheel to gain access to it

Hope that helps
