Hi the heater fan in my 200tdi makes a noise when running like its catching on something and drives me daft. Does anyone have any idea's of what this could be? Would it be easy to fix myself?

Strip it down sometimes it's leaves and twigs at this time of year that gets sucked into the blows unit

I like 3.5's answer, but in engine bay - black box in corner against bulkhead on passenger side

Buster may have a guide - if not know i've seen some on other forums if you search Google for replacing defender heater

Is the blower motor in the cab or under the bonnet?:)
the blower motor is in the cab behind EVERYTHING! you have to remove the entire console, dash etc to get to it. That's why I fitted an auxiliary heater in my cab when mine packed up. ;)

mines been making a noise for about 5 years.... either a dry bearing or a bit of twig...... mines worse on slow but usually goes quiet on high, then after a bit on high its quiet on low.... i keep an old towel to wipe most of the condensation off the inside of the screen then use the blower to finish drying it off...ive just learnt to work round it cos i dont enjoy pulling dashboards apart.. if yours moans all the time try turning the radio on to drown it out...but to be honest i think i prefer the noise from the blower to most of the stuff my teenagers want to listen to.

Fair point, I'm just gonna put up with it mi thinks.::D

Hi Barmatt, The heater in my 200tdi is knackered too, something to do with a large amount of water flowing through it. I am interested in the auxillary heater you fitted, could you give me some more info on this?

Rather than taking out the entire dash etc I fitted one of these Truck fan heater, heater blower, heater fan 12 Volt 300 Watt | eBay built a stand for it so it sits behind the cubby box facing forwards and seems to work well, warms up the cab in about the same time as it takes for the engine to warm up on a cold morning.
