I'm after a new dipstick tube for my Discovery 200tdi engine but I can't figure out what part number I need.
I would like to get the exact one for my engine so I can finally take accurate oil level readings.

Looking at the photos can anyone help with a part number and best place to source one?

Thanks!

Nothing wrong with that one that a half hour with a set of vice grips wouldn't fix

You might get lucky and find a scrap one but they're rare these days, you would be very lucky to find new.

The bracket itself is repairable but the top of the tube itself must have been damaged once upon a time and as you can see has had a dodgy repair with some sort of putty which has made the pipe shorter and therefore does not reach the mounting point on the manifold.
And being shorter that means I’m not getting accurate oil readings so I want to put a new/old tube on there so I know that my readings are correct.

I have messaged someone breaking a disco 200tdi on eBay so hopefully he might have one.

Disco and def block the same, and penty of new def tubes and stick on ebay, def tube/stick shorter but cannot see it being impossible to tweak to make it fit?

This is ERC8980 on defender engine not certain same on all worth a punt at that price.

Defender parts manual that I have is from Smithies landrover site a NZ web site of interest just search for smithies landrover 200tdi parts start on page 168
I ran my 200DI for ages with a 2.5 diesel dipstick and tube fitted but may have re marked the stick when I did the conversion.

That may be the route to go down as it seems the disco one has been discontinued

Thanks for that. May be worth getting the new tube, draining the oil completely and then refilling with the correct amount of oil and make a mark on the dipstick. Would that work?

Yes that will work, but remember the oil amounts often quoted are for a dry fill which on most engines is one time only, ie from new and you will be doing a wet fill so need to knock off approx 1 litre.

So to remark the stick accurately you need to know how much oil people are using on an oil change, and I bet not one guy states the same amount!

With the def stick and tube you will know it is right.

if you have the correct amount of oil in you can adjust the dipstick tube by moving olive and tightening up nut ( easier on new tube ) otherwise you would have to buy new olive and then set depth where you want it

Def tube will work but is harder to get to as the tube is shorter than a Disco one and you have to get your hand inbetween the fan belt, top rad hose / top intercooler hose, exhaust, alternator and theremostate body but is doable, thats how i do mine a Disco dressed Def engine :(

Ah pulley alignment fun!

Ps why the rubber heater hose rather than the steel one?
Its got a refurbed galv bulkhead but the bottom half is from an early 2a and the top half is from a late 2a the landy is a late 2a with a flat heater so had to fit the flat heater slightly off centre so hose from heater to the the steel pipe wouldn't go so just fitted a rubber pipe :)

Just realised in the 1st photo's of this post dip tube is located in wrong position it should bolt to inlet manifold about 1" to the right of where it is situated engine side of exhaust maifold branch why could it not go there?

I’m trying to figure out where I can buy the correct dipstick for the disco 200tdi, I bought part#ETC7867, not even close. You fit a defender 200tdi to your discovery 200tdi engine? Does this reflect accurate oil readings? Or does anyone happen to know the correct dipstick part number for a 12L 200tdi?

any help is greatly appreciated!
