I'm undecided on what to do with my rear bumper, I'm not sure if I should paint it and sell it and buy a tubular bumper instead - as I prefer how they look and i'll need to modify my current one to make it fit with a body lift.

So for now i've given up with the rear bumper and starterd with the front - I've removed it so I can get some proper measurements for brackets to raise it, as well as to repaint it as it's looking a bit sorry for itself. I would like a tubular bumper for the front but we'll see.

The drop plate attachment for my tank guard came today - i struggled to find one for sale, but I came across a guy on eBay that makes up tank guards and he agreed to sell me one separately. So after some measuring I bought one - and it's a perfect fit!

The brackets bent rather than pulling the bumper closer, so i have a rather large gap - definitely need stronger brackets.

I didn't have much free time today but I painted a couple of bits.

The rear end was let down by the rusty spare, so until I get a replacement I've painted it with hammerite.

Then I started this task - swapping the rear 1/4 panels over. Basically i didn't like the chequer plate on the rear of mine.

First of all i removed the chequer plate that was attached using rivets.

Removed the pillar trim (3 bolts on the inside) and drilled out the rivets

This part is spot welded on to the 1/4 panel, and some screws to the rear. I re-attached it later on with rivets where I could, and some bolts.

There are bolts along the bottom of the window, at the top and to the right (looking from the inside). There are also a couple of screws at the top. The rear speaker mount is also connected to the panel using rivets.

As this was the fuel cap site, there are 2 jubilee clips attaching this to the tank. There is also an earth connecting to the body.

The panel is bonded to the body using adhesive and it's very sticky, I didn't have to be too careful removing the panel as I'm chucking it, but I was as careful as I could be - it takes a while.

I also had to swap the fuel pipes over, and the fuel cap lock - simple enough.

This was what I found behind the panel, not too bad actually so I'm pretty please.

I spent most of the time cleaning off the adhesive, it's horribly sticky stuff.

Attaching the rear light panel to the 1/4 panel. As mentioned before, where I could I used rivets but bolts did a better job.

Tomorrow I plan on tinting the window, and re-fitting with a new seal. I need to re-attach the fuel filler pipes. Then I will need to cut away the arch and fit the extended arch from my old 1/4 panel.

I didn't do as much as I had planned today due to somehow damaging my elbow.

I fitted the new window seal and tinted the window.

This was the first time tinting a window, and after some practice runs i went through a 1M length of film - which cost me about 7 quid so I can't complain really!

Initially I fit the film to the window whilst it was off the car - bad plan, as when you put the seal on and in the car it damages the film.

Anyway, I put the new seal on the window - very tight fit - and i ran wire around the seal to aid me in putting the window back in the body.

Took about 15 minutes or so, but simple enough.

I sprayed the outside of the window with water (the film goes on the inside, this is just for cutting the shape) and put the film on top of the window - I cut the film slightly smaller than required l as it made it easier to fit and there is already a black lip around the window so you won't see it.

I thoroughly cleaned the inside of the window using window cleaner, a stanley blade and water. I then covered the inside of the window with soapy water and removed the protective film from the tint, and then sprayed this with soapy water too - placed the film on the inside of the window and slid it around until it was in place. I then use a variety of "window tinting" tools to push the water and bubbles out - after about 10 minutes I was left with this.

The problem is with the drop plate, now that it's fitted I can see an obvious problem.

Now I'm thinking I'll have to get it modified so I can tow - or will I be ok? Thoughts? It will be a lightweight caravan.

I also added some power to the box I made to go in place of the dickie seat, and a dimmer for LED lights I'll be putting in the back.
