Hi there to all,

I have a major problem with my disco 1 300tdi 1995 es model, the rear brakes failed on its latest MOT and I have replaced rear calipers, rear flexi hoses, all new copper brake lines upto abs modulator, new PRV, new master cylinder abs version and I a now on my 4th second hand abs modulator.

I still cannot get the rear brakes to bleed at all up at the abs modulator this is as I have not even got to the rear calipers yet, every modulator acts the same, so I was just wondering if anyone has had problems bleeding abs modulators?

I have tried ANR4637/ANR2901 and another which I cannot just remember.

Is there any special way to bleed these things I have tried the 2 man pedal method and I have tried pressure bleeding still nothing?

Please help as if I cannot fix its going to the breakers.

Thanks

Steve

have you got fluid to block, you can bleed system from m/c by slackening pipe a little having pedal pressed down and tightening pipe before letting pedal up repeat till clean fluid appears and work along to block then after then calipers

Done that pumped up pedal bled every outlet on PRV then on abs modulator but still get nothing the both rear pipes??

Yep get fluid out of front and rear outlets from m/c but only get fluid coming out of front outlets on abs block.

Thought was the block but put 4 different ones on now, scanned with my hawkeye brought no ecu faults up?

Cannot find anything on abs section, just seems to able to scan faults, unless you know how to get to it not sure cos not used it much, but one modulator def works as I had it completely in bits and tested all solenoid vales 4x normally closed and 4x normally open, still no fluid?

if fluid is reaching block through prv must be block ,does it bleed through ifwiring disconnected, block in normal state should allow fluid through unless valves stuck or been closed etc

Done that but still the same, came up vales disconnected then connected but that is when I took the unit off and put it back on again.

So still stumped with this even rang landrover they said it should just bleed through, but they could sell me a new modulator for £2,300 (yer right), rather buy another and swap bits over.

Anyone able to help, as disco just stood about and I will need soon to get to work in the snow.

Thanks

Steve

If you can get power to the ABS pump relay, you can turn the pump on and pump out at each wheel in turn, starting from rear drivers side to front passengers side.

Get juice to the pump and just pump away at each wheel bleed nipple until clean fluid comes through..

I do this all the time on DII's, so on DI it's just a matter of finding a way to power up the pump.

Ensure you have enough juice in your battery and enough brake fluid to keep topping up the M/c.
